Wishing you all a Memorial Day full of family, friends, and reflection. As the weekend often acts as the unofficial kick-off to summer, it's also a moment to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

It's wonderful to be part of a community that shows up on days like this.

The Medina Teachers Association, Medina Central School District, and Medina Area Partnership are proud to announce the May Students of the Month. Sponsored by Medina Garden Center, the program recognizes students who go above and beyond to support their classmates, teachers, and school community. Students received yard signs from the MTA, gifts from the school district, and plants from Medina Garden Center in recognition of their achievements.

At Oak Orchard School, first grader Henry Rosenbeck was nominated by teachers Kelsey Tran and Eileen Regan for his hard work, leadership, kindness, and willingness to help classmates.

From Wise Intermediate School, fourth grader Emmalynn McGrath was nominated by Alexis Jones for her tremendous personal growth, confidence, kindness, and positive relationships with peers and teachers.

At the Jr./Sr. High School, senior Aleeyah Martinez was nominated by Krista Duhow for her outstanding work ethic, professionalism, and leadership in the Culinary Arts Program at BOCES.

Close your eyes and tell yourself - warm weather is coming. These cold rainy days have to be ending soon...right? We can't wait for walking around Medina's boutiques, stopping for dinner on a patio, taking in the Medina Triennial, summer events, Blue Thursdays, boating on the Erie Canal, and much much more.

The Medina Teachers Association, the Medina School District, and the Medina Area Partnership are proud to announce the April selections for Students of the Month. This award is a combined effort of these organizations to recognize students who go above and beyond to help teachers and fellow students succeed and enjoy school.

Mariachi de Oro has graciously sponsored the award for April. This month, students were honored with an article and a yard sign from the MTA to celebrate their achievement. The yard sign was presented by Joseph Byrne, President of the Medina Teachers’ Association. In addition, Mariachi de Oro presented each of this month’s winners with a gift bag containing gift certificates and treats.

This month’s honorees are Zeke Bennett, nominated by Lyndsey Snell at Oak Orchard School; Braelyn Beutel, nominated by Leah Gates at Wise Intermediate School; and Madelyn Elliott, nominated by Sara Kyle at the Jr./Sr. High School.

Congratulations to this month’s winners! The MTA, MCSD, and the MAP will continue the Student of the Month program throughout the school year. Be on the lookout for the next honorees in the coming months.
