Our state has always been a place where history is written by hand, and right here in McMinnville, our roots run deep into the fabric of the American story. ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœจ

As we approach the nation's milestone 250th birthday, we are officially joining the statewide Tennessee America 250 (TN250) celebration. This commemoration is all about honoring the unique local stories, landmarks, and people who shaped our collective history from the early frontier days to the present.

Many of our earliest local families settled right here through land grants given to Revolutionary War veterans. Over the generations, our community has kept that proud, independent, and hardworking spirit alive through our historic downtown, our agricultural heritage, and our deep-rooted traditions.

๐Ÿค Honor the Past by Giving Back: America GivesA major part of the TN250 initiative is a call to action called "America Gives". Instead of just looking backward, we are encouraged to honor the legacy of those who built our community by rolling up our sleeves today.

You can join the celebration by donating a few volunteer hours to keep McMinnville thriving:
๐ŸŒณ Help plant trees or beautify a neighborhood space.
๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Grab a trash bag and participate in a local park cleanup day.
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Support or visit our local historical markers and archives to keep our stories alive.

Our local history is part of the larger American tapestry. Take a moment this season to disconnect from the digital noise, learn a new story about your hometown, and catch your breath while giving back to the community we love.

What is your favorite historic spot or piece of local history in town? Share it with us in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡

With Fatherโ€™s Day and the Summer Solstice landing on the exact same weekend, you are getting the ultimate gift: the longest day of the year to celebrate Dad. โ˜€๏ธโ›ณ๐Ÿ–

If you are looking for the absolute perfect "Dad Vibe" itinerary, McMinnville has enough world-class food, golf, and outdoor relaxation to fill every single extra minute of daylight.

Here is how to build the ultimate day for him:

๐ŸŒ๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ Morning: Tee Time
Start the longest day of the year on the fairways. Book an early tee time at WillowBrook Golf Club or McMinnville Country Club. The greens are crisp, the air is cool, and it is the ultimate way for Dad to kick off his weekend.

๐Ÿ– Lunch: The Heavy-Hitter BBQ Tour
When he gets hungry, skip the fancy tablecloths and take him straight to the smoker. Treat him to competition-worthy brisket at W***y Bโ€™s Smokehouse, legendary baby back ribs at Praterโ€™s BBQ, a classic pulled pork platter downtown at Collins River BBQ, or hometown favorites at Hickory Creek Barbecue.

๐ŸŽฃ Afternoon: Cast a Line or Catch a View
Take advantage of that late-afternoon sun. Head out to the riverbanks for some peaceful fishing, or take a scenic drive to look out over the water. It is the definition of letting Dad slow down, unwind, and catch his breath.

Give Dad more than just a tie this year. Give him an unforgettable day packed with exactly what he loves.

Some of the best views of McMinnville can only be seen from the water. ๐Ÿ›ถ๐Ÿ’ง

Saturday, June 20, is National Go Paddle Day, and around here, we don't need much convincing to hit the water. With our winding scenic rivers and smooth waterways, McMinnville is an absolute paradise for kayakers, canoers, and paddleboarders looking to escape the heat and reconnect with nature.

If you are looking to honor the day and log some screen-free miles on the water, we have the ultimate game plan for you:

๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™‚๏ธ The Route: Float the Barren Fork
The Barren Fork River offers a beautifully calm, scenic paddle perfect for all skill levels. It is the definition of slow summer energy - gliding under canopy trees, watching the local wildlife, and catching your breath to the rhythm of the river right here in town.

โš“ No Gear? No Problem:
You don't need to own a boat to join the fun. Head over to Smooth Rapids Outfitters right on the river. They can hook you up with kayak rentals, tubes, and all the safety gear you need, plus handle the shuttle to make your drop-in completely effortless.

Whether you are an experienced paddler or trying it out for the very first time, gather a few friends, pack the sunscreen, and let's celebrate Go Paddle Day the right way.

Tag your favorite adventure buddy in the comments who needs to get out on the river with you on June 20th! ๐ŸŒค๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‡

Young artists can explore their creativity at the Youth Watercolor Workshop, or older artists can join the Intermediate Hummingbird Workshop to study and paint native ruby-throated hummingbirds using professional techniques. Check the state park calendar to secure your registration!

๐Ÿฅฉ The BBQ Brisket Workshop (This Thursday, June 11 | 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM): Ready to master the ultimate backyard craft?
