The Wilkinson County Family Connection collaborative facilitates the development, implementation and evaluation of a county-wide plan to improve results; exercise fiscal responsibility; regularly convene collaborative partners; collect data, share information and report on the well-being of children and families in Wilkinson County. Communities in Georgia strive to improve the quality of life for their children and families through collaboration. Georgia Family Connection, a statewide network of 159 county collaborative organizations, drives that collaboration. We want our kids to be healthy, ready to start school and do well when they get there, and we want our families to be stable and self-sufficient. We’ve been striving to make that happen for more than 17 years. We hold fundraisers and accept donations to support the Ferst
Foundation for Childhood Literacy based in Madison, Georgia. This foundation banks our donations for Wilkinson County children. Each registered child under the age of 5 receives an age appropriate hardback book every month. We also have tried to create book clubs for youth in our local churches and continue to look for new and innovative ideas to encourage reading among all age groups. We know the more literate our residents the better the quality of life for everyone in the county.
