Friends of McFarland Parks

Friends of McFarland Parks To help promote, maintain and improve the parks in McFarland, WI. The group originated to help replace playground equipment at numerous parks in 2007-2008.

The Friends of McFarland Parks is a nonprofit organization formed in 2006 to help promote, maintain and improve the parks in McFarland, WI. During that timeframe, it also helped build the Discovery Park at the E.D. Locke Library and raised funds for the acquisition of the Schuetz property, now known as Orchard Hill Park. After the playgrounds, the organization helped raise money for McFarland's do

g park and the repair of the hockey rink at Lewis Park. Each year, the Friends of McFarland's Park participates in Wisconsin's Birdathon, and helped raise money to install the spotting scope at Lewis Park overlooking Lower Mud Lake. Individual members of the group have helped to remove invasive species from Marshwoods Park and replant native prairie. The organization works closely with the Village of McFarland and is continually looking for opportunities to support the maintenance of existing parks and future outdoor space through fundraising and other recreational enhancement opportunities.

There are many great ways to get involved with our local government. The Village has one seat open on the Parks and Rec Committee and another open seat on the Sustainability and Natural Resources Committee. Both would provide a phenomenal opportunity to support our parks and open spaces.
Committee applications are due Friday, April 3! To learn more and apply, please visit www.mcfarland.wi.us/277/Boards-Committees.

The bridge on the playground equipment at Autumn Grove Park, located at 5207 Falling Leaves Lane, will be closed this afternoon, Tuesday, September 16 through Wednesday, September 17. Staff were replacing the bridge on Tuesday and experienced an issue that has resulted in the bridge's temporary closure. We appreciate your patience as we work to fix the bridge and reopen it for use as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the Public Works Department at [email protected] or call 608-838-7287.
