Optimist Club of McFarland The Optimists believe in supporting our local youth through activities, services, and scholarships. The food is provided to the children free of charge.

There are no limits to what optimists together can accomplish. Weekend Snack Sack Program:
Weekend Snack Sack is a food program that provides a supply of nutritious food for children when breakfast and lunch might be unavailable on the weekend. Each food bag contains nonperishable food; 2 breakfast items, 2 lunch items, 2 snacks and 2 beverages. It is our hope that this resour

ce will support the health, behavior, and achievement of every student that participates. If you wish to donate to this worthy community effort, please send your donation made out to "McFarland Optimists" to McFarland Optimists, PO Box 102, McFarland, WI 53558. Any donation amount will be accepted. However, $120 will allow you to "Adopt a Student", which would support one student for the school year. This school year we are supporting 51 students in grades K through 8. This program, sponsored by the McFarland Optimist Club, seeks to give hunger relief to students who don't always have reliable nutrition over the weekend. Additional activities we are involved in: MHS Senior of the Month, WIAA Concessions, Optimist Scholarships, Bike Rodeo, Food Pantry Challenge, Football Raffle, Santa Hotline, and many other community events.

Our former Bike Rodeo is now Ride Rally Roll 🚴🏾and is our way of promoting bike safety and keeping the kids riding throughout the summer.👧🏾👦🏼🚵🏾
Helmets and Tune Ups and Snow Cones OH MY! 🪖🧰🍧
And yet there's MORE...our Cuddle Up With a Book📚 program was handing out books to promote literacy in these summer months!📖

On May 20th the McFarland Optimist Club awarded four Achievement in Education scholarships. This year's recipients have distinguished themselves through hard work, dedication and service. All traits spelled out in the Optimist Creed that we hold dear. Presented by board member Nancy Walsh-Boeder, we are honored to invest in their futures and celebrate their accomplishments.

May McFarland Optimist Senior of the Month

Congratulations to the Optimist Club of McFarland Senior of the Month, Micah Kindschi!

Micah was nominated by MHS Teacher, Paul Gregg. Mr. Gregg shared “Micah takes on new challenges with grit and a smile. He can be relied upon by peers and staff to provide leadership, or quiet guidance and help. I frequently observe Micah making that extra stride towards improvement, without explicit prompts. He is the kind of learner that will make the most of opportunities - and go far in life.”
Micah plans to attend the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities to study History with a goal to teach high school.

April McFarland Optimist Senior of the Month

Congratulations to the Optimist Club of McFarland Senior of the Month, Ben Bosold!

Ben was nominated by MHS Teacher and Coach, Alex Walli. Mr. Walli shared “Ben is a hard worker who never let an obstacle discourage him. I first became familiar with Ben the summer before his freshman year. He was clearly the leader in basketball. From being a ball dominant scorer his freshman year, to changing positions sophomore year to a power forward. Now he has seamlessly blended in his role on the varsity team. Ben’s journey represents his ability to adapt to any situation. In the classroom, Ben serves as a leader to his peers and encourages positive behavior. He communicates well with staff, and demonstrates responsibility needed to succeed in young adulthood.”

Ben plans to attend UW- LaCrosse to study Accounting.

March McFarland Optimist Senior of the Month

Congratulations to the Optimist Club of McFarland Senior of the Month, Arisa McCollough!

Arisa was nominated by MHS Teacher, Kelly Thompson. Ms. Thompson shared “Arisa has been a leader at MHS in many ways. She is an excellent student, and is very involved in several clubs, including Student Council, Multicultural Club, National Honor Society, and the Equity Coalition. Arisa has been involved in many service projects, and for two years has been a co-emcee for the We Are Many United Youth Unity Summit hosted at MHS. She is also involved in music and athletics, including soccer and tennis. She was also recently recognized as an Outstanding Young Person at the Urban League of Madison’s MLK Jr. Recognition breakfast. Arisa has made MHS a better place, and is an outstanding example of Spartan Pride!”

Arisa plans to attend a four year college to study Environmental Sciences

Did you know...Wisconsin Women's Hockey 🏒🥅 hosted about 14 regular season (and this year) 4 post season games at LaBahn Arena.

At every game you will see the McFarland Optimists (and Lions) sharing their time 🕕 and talents behind the concession stand making sure everyone has enough food 🌭and drinks🥤to properly cheer 📣 on their team!

All of the proceeds from time 🕕and tips 💸is used to fund important youth opportunities such as scholarships 🎓, weekend snack sacks 🎒, student pantries 🛒and the like!

THANK YOU ❤️ to all who volunteered or purchased; it's very much appreciated!

And the culmination of another fantastic season is the Badger Women's Hockey team beginning their quest for yet another Natty tonight against Penn State! Go Badgers!! 🦡❤️
