Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma Southern Branch

Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma Southern Branch Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope Together, we provide more than 346,000 meals each week to people struggling with hunger. About Our Tulsa Warehouse

The Donald W.

With locations in Tulsa and McAlester, we provide food and other donated goods to 450 Partner Programs in 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma. These programs include emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs and senior citizen centers. During Fiscal Year 2015 we distributed more than 21.6 million pounds of food. Reynolds Distribution Center opened in June 2006.

The 78,000 square-foot facility can store up to three million pounds of food at any one time. Our warehouse is outfitted with state-of-the-art coolers and freezers with 288 freezer pallet spaces and 288 refrigerator pallet spaces. It is also equipped with a 2,200 square foot professional Culinary Center where thousands of pounds of perishable food are processed into frozen meals for later distribution. Southern Branch

The Food Bank opened a branch in McAlester in August 2012. For the eight counties in southeast Oklahoma – Choctaw, Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore, McCurtain, McIntosh, Pittsburg and Pushmataha- traveling to the Tulsa distribution center posed geographic challenges. By reducing the time and costs our partners spend to pick up food, this facility enables our programs to reallocate resources to those struggling with hunger. Proximity to the McAlester branch also enables our Partner Programs to pick-up and distribute more perishable items including fresh produce, meat and bakery items because of reduced travel time.

To increase access to potentially lifesaving tools, the Choctaw Nation Health Clinic in McAlester now offers 24/7 access to Naloxone and fentanyl test strips through a vending machine located just to the left of the clinic entrance.

Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose, and fentanyl test strips can help identify the presence of fentanyl in substances.
