When Love Becomes Light

During last nights ceremony you may have noticed a slight theme. From the note board to the luminaries, butterflies 🦋 were prevalent. This is a common symbol of infant and pregnancy loss.

Butterflies represent transformation, hope, and the beauty of a life that, no matter how brief, leaves a lasting imprint on our hearts. Like a butterfly, the love we hold for our babies is delicate, powerful, and everlasting.

If you looked closely and you noticed there were a few that held no name. Those luminaries hold space for the babies, individuals, and families whose stories may not yet be ready to be shared with the world.

Whether a name is written, or a light shines quietly without one, every loss matters, every baby is remembered, and every family belongs.

May these lights remind us that love has no timeline, grief has no rules, and no one has to walk this journey alone.

Somedays it’s harder than others, but trying to acknowledge the micro joys helps us to learn to adjust the load and carry our grief a little better.

When the weight of the world gets to be too much, and lately it often does, it can feel almost absurd to notice something small and good. The first sip of coffee while the house is still quiet. A dog leaning into your leg. Light falling sideways through the trees in the late afternoon.

But those small things are not a distraction from grief. They are how we carry it.

Nobody survives the big sorrows by staring straight into them without ever looking away. We survive by letting small joys interrupt us, again and again, reminding us that the world is still worth staying in.

Notice one today.
Let it be enough for the moment it lasts.

💛Mindful Monday💛

Being vulnerable isn’t typically something we humans enjoy doing.

Being vulnerable can make us feel weak or less than.

Being vulneravle can feel like we are opening the door for judgement and criticism. Once it’s out, there is no taking it back.

Being vulnerable means sometimes sharing the most scared moments we go through.

BUT

Being vulnerable can also be freeing and therapeutic.

If you find yourself in a position where someone is being vulnerable with you, take that opportunity to lean in and listen.

You may be surprised how you both feel at the end of the conversation. 🫶🏻
