đź’›Mindful Mondayđź’›

An article from Phoenix Health reminds us that grief is a tricky thing.

These experiences are more common than one might think, and they are not your fault!

You may experience:
▪️Intense longing or preoccupation with your baby or the pregnancy that shows up most days, for weeks at a time
▪️Persistent self-blame or guilt about the loss that doesn’t ease even after medical reassurance
▪️Avoiding anything related to the pregnancy: medical offices, mementos, pregnant friends, or baby announcements in a way that shrinks your daily life
▪️A sense that part of you died along with the pregnancy, ongoing identity confusion
▪️Flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, or nightmares about the loss that reoccur even months later
▪️Physical or functional changes: chronic insomnia, major shifts in weight, exhaustion that doesn’t lift, or letting go of basic self-care
▪️withdrawing from your friends or partner, constant conflict or blame that hasn’t eased since the loss

If you or a loved one are currently experiencing any of these things, please reach out to a trusted friend and seek help from a medical professional.

Don’t fall victim to comparison!

It is especially easy to look at our neighbor and compare what they have to what we don’t, or vice versa. It’s somewhat natural…but can be detrimental to our mental health and healing journey.

You may find yourself wondering…

“Why is her pregnancy so easy?”
“Why does she seem less anxious?”
“Why am I not feeling the same things?”
“Why doesn’t my journey look like hers?”

Here’s your reminder today:

Your story is uniquely yours.

Your emotions don’t have to match anyone else’s. And your journey doesn’t have to follow someone else’s timeline.

Comparison steals the ability to appreciate the moments that are uniquely yours.

So today, take your eyes off someone else’s journey and gently bring them back to your own.

Your baby. Your story. Your journey. Your today.

What is one thing about YOUR journey that you want to celebrate today?
