Laurel Oak Garden Club A passionate group of men and women joined together by their love of nature and gardening in Mayfield, KY, the Pearl of the Purchase.

The Laurel Oak Garden Club shall be to gather together garden lovers for the study of horticulture; to promote artistry in flower arranging, home decoration, and landscape design; to aid in the protection of all natural resources and encourage conservation practices in the home, Community and state.

Kentucky Garden Club State President, Sharon Burcham, installed Laurel Oak Garden Club’s 2026-2027 officers.
At the home of Host Pat Woodsmall, Co-hostesses were Janice Kafton, Stephanie Smith, Norma Britton and Sally Curry. Breakfast was served along with a welcome cake honoring our state president.
President Burcham presented each new officer with a sunny impatient plant and a description of each officer’s duties. Each plant was adorned with a colorful gemstone stake. Officers are : President, Anita Granier; Vice- President, Sally Curry; Secretary, Mariowen Reed; Treasurer, Kristin King and Chaplain, Pam Smith. Past President, Bud Qualk, was presented with a Thank you card and gift certificate to Phelps Farm Store.
Next meeting will be final meeting of the season as a potluck at the home of Mary Seay. A program on the care of orchids will be presented by Betty Whitlow.

Today is an ideal day for planting our 250 Anniversary tree in tribute to America. Dana Zinger of Frankfort's Historical Society, Mayor O'Nan, Jill Celaya, Tyler Goodman, local politicians, and Mayfield guests observed as Laurel Oak garden members planted a Kentucky state Tulip Poplar tree at Farmers Market.
