Two Lights Foundation, in partnership with Mayer Lutheran, is excited to welcome Markus McFolling to our community!

Markus is a former professional athlete and founder of Reach1 who now travels the country sharing his powerful story of faith, struggle, restoration, and purpose.

After a career-ending injury led him through seasons of addiction, depression, and searching for his identity, Markus experienced the transforming power of Jesus and found a new purpose in his story.

Today, Markus challenges students, families, and communities to look beyond their circumstances, understand their God-given identity, and discover that there is always hope and purpose on the other side of the struggle.

We believe this is a message our community needs to hear.

On Thursday, August 27th, our 9th grade class participated in a Respect Retreat, led by Youth Frontiers and held at Freshwater Church in Waconia. Here are a few photos from the day.

This experience gave our freshmen the chance to intentionally build relationships, strengthen their class community, and consider the role each of them plays in creating a positive school culture. Through high-energy activities, meaningful stories, small-group conversations, and personal reflection, students explored what it means to respect themselves and others — all built around Youth Frontiers' powerful message that "They matter, Others matter, and what they do matters."

Beginning high school is about much more than new classes and new routines — it's also about discovering the kind of person and classmate you want to become. The Respect Retreat challenged our freshmen to recognize the impact their words and actions have on others, stand up when they see disrespect, and identify ways they can contribute to a stronger culture of respect.

As our freshmen begin their high school journey at Mayer Lutheran, we're excited to see them put these lessons into action as they grow into young people who love others, build each other up, practice integrity, and help make Mayer Lutheran a place where every student knows they belong and matter.

⚽️ BOYS SOCCER IS OFF TO A GREAT START! ⚽️

Our Mayer Lutheran boys are having a great start to the season as members of the Watertown-Mayer boys soccer co-op team! ❤️🖤

Vincent Evans, Isaiah Hoffman, and Alex Johnson are playing on the Varsity team, which earned a 2–1 victory over United Christian yesterday! 🎉

👏 Way to go, Vincent! He recorded 5 saves in goal!
👏 Great job, Alex! He contributed an assist!

Chris Lederle is also representing Mayer Lutheran on the JV team. We’re proud of all our Crusaders competing and representing our school!

🎉 Happy Birthday to our wonderful Middle School & High School Principal, Kevin Wilaby! 🎉

Kevin has faithfully served in ministry here at Mayer Lutheran for 26years. One of his greatest joys is encouraging students in their relationship with Jesus and having the opportunity to talk with students and colleagues about their faith. ✝️❤️

When Kevin has some spare time, you’ll find him fishing, cooking, or cheering on his favorite teams—the Broncos, Nuggets, and Cubs! 🏈🏀⚾

We are so thankful for Kevin’s leadership, his love for students, and his heart for pointing others to Jesus. Happy Birthday, Kevin! May God bless you with a wonderful day!

🎉 Happy Birthday, Mr. Ben Schulteis! 🎉

Mayer Lutheran has been so blessed to have him teaching high school science for nine years! His favorite part of teaching is sharing the wonder and beauty of God’s creation with his students and pointing them to their Savior Jesus. ✝️

Outside the classroom, he coaches robotics and throwing events in track and field. He enjoys working out, building things, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.

We are truly blessed to have him as part of the Mayer Lutheran family! God’s blessings on your special day, Mr. Schulteis! 🎂🎉

Our Monday, August 24 Mayer Lutheran chapel service was a special one, as we dedicated our new organ to the service of our Triune God. The organ is a replacement for the one that was damaged by a lightning strike in May of 2025. Following the blessing of the new organ by our campus pastor, Rev. Luke Onken, ML faculty member and organist Colin Schultz led the assembly in the singing of two hymns, which you can hear in this video excerpt posted on our YouTube channel.
