Fun Fact Friday at Riverside Park

Ever wonder where the Colorado River begins?

The Texas Colorado River starts near Lamesa in West Texas, then travels hundreds of miles across the state before eventually reaching Matagorda Bay.

That means the same river flowing through Bay City has already made quite a journey before it gets to Riverside Park.

Pretty amazing when you think about it.

**FUN FACT FRIDAY**

Did you know that Hotel Blessing, built in 1906 and opened in 1907, has the distinction as being entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 as the very first official listing in Matagorda County?

Though it has this historic distinction, it is not the oldest hotel in Matagorda County. That honor goes to the Luther Hotel in Palacios, which was constructed in 1903!
