Hello all,
Kit here. UAO is not dead. It’s important to give the details on the 2 year break for those who supported us for 14 years.
Every large team experiences personality differences within themselves, but the rumor of this being the reason for the end is far from true.
The truth is that responsibility rolls uphill for a volunteer event with a large amount of people involved. My leadership was affected by needing a surgery and the time to gather the event together takes me many months every year. My time and bandwidth became too short to take this on until I cleared my medical needs which took two years of procedures and surgery.
I am pleased to announce that 2026 will be our return. Over the next few months we will be launching a much more streamlined way of signing up to bring soundcamps, plot maps, and general information on how to survive radical self reliance.
We will also announce one or more new partnerships in the next few months that will expand our attendance and provide more dedicated hands for the volunteer beach cleanup.
A location change may be necessary as the beach entrance has presented challenges multiple years in a row. We have our eyes open for this possible change to an area that needs our help, but has accessibility for all.
Every year we have open availability to join the UAO volunteer committee/ board. If you would like to join in the planning committee, have a dedicated performance for your artistic team, or if you want to hold a camp or workshop, please message our page anytime.
We’d like to thank everyone for their years of dedication because this event is built for you, by you. The committee and myself are only here to organize and speak with Matagorda for permissions.
Here’s to the continued future of UAO!
