Friends and Neighbors there is NJ Legislation that would make EMS an essential service of every town in NJ. We are fortunate enough to have such a Township supported EMS service in Maple Shade since 1939. The Maple Shade First Aid Squad is here to provide this important service no and in the future. This legislation would ensure that Maple Shade and every town supply 911 Ambulance services to their residents. Please take a few minutes and write to you legislators in support of the bill.

1 Find the town where you reside and click on your legislative district number (Burlington County is either District 6, 7 or 8). This will bring up the representatives for your area.

2.Scroll down and you will see your senator and two representatives. Click on “Contact Your Legislators” under each representative.

3.Fill in your information. It is important to include your address so they know you are a constituent in their district.

4. Under Related Issue, select Health – Emergency Medical Services.

5. For the subject, enter EMS Essential Service Bill.

6. Copy and paste the letter below into the comment section and submit it.

7. Repeat for the remaining two legislators.

I am writing to ask for your support of the proposed legislation, S1421/A1008, designating Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as an essential service in New Jersey.

Every day, EMS professionals respond to medical emergencies, save lives, and provide critical care to residents in their most vulnerable moments. They are often the first point of contact for individuals experiencing a medical crisis and play an indispensable role in our public safety system. Despite the essential nature of their work, EMS agencies continue to face significant challenges in securing the funding and resources necessary to meet the growing needs of their communities.

Designating EMS as an essential service would be an important step toward establishing more reliable support for ambulance operations, lifesaving equipment, training, and the recruitment and retention of qualified EMS personnel. It would help recognize the vital role these professionals play in protecting the health and safety of every New Jersey resident.

Our EMS professionals work alongside police officers and firefighters every day to protect our communities. It is only fair that EMS receives the same recognition, support, and protections afforded to its public safety partners.

I respectfully urge you to support the EMS Essential Services Bill and help ensure that New Jersey's EMS agencies have the resources needed to continue providing timely, dependable, and lifesaving care to our communities.

Ever wonder why an ambulance might load a patient, close the doors… and then just sit there for a few minutes before leaving?

Chances are, we’re not just sitting there.

Once a patient is in the back of the ambulance, we have a lot of tools and equipment right at our fingertips.

Before we start heading to the hospital, there are times when we need a few extra minutes to assess the patient, check vital signs, give medications, or perform other treatments.

We’re also trying to answer an important question:

Where is the best place for this patient to go?

Not every hospital provides the same level of care for every emergency. One hospital may be the best destination for a stroke patient, while another may be better equipped for a major trauma or certain cardiac emergencies.

What we find during our assessment can completely change the destination.

Could we do some of this while driving?

Absolutely.

But some things are a whole lot easier — and safer — to do while the ambulance is sitting still instead of bouncing down the road. 😂

So the next time you see an ambulance sitting in front of a house for a few minutes after the patient has already been loaded, don’t assume nothing is happening.

There’s a pretty good chance the crew is actively assessing, treating, and deciding on the best plan for that patient before the wheels ever start moving.

We’re not wasting time. We’re using it.

We have seen an increase in accidents involving EBIKES and Scooters. These vehicles can carry some speed and are dangerous if not used with care. We strongly encourage anyone using these or another form on non automotive transportation to wear a helmet and proper clothing to protect urself from injury. We also remind drivers to be aware of your surroundings for these or motorcyclists out there. Every one be safe as it's another hot week. As always we are here if you need us

A few of our dedicated EMT's are heading back to College and others have completed their Education and will be moving their Healthcare Careers to the next level. Another SCAMMER has taken the copyrighted logo from The Maple Shade First Aid Squad and created a "ALUMNI" T-Shirt. We are not selling those or did we authorize the use of our Logo. That Logo holds a lot of tradition and service to the residents of Maple Shade. We are very aware of where and when it is being used. The only place you may see a T-Shirt for sale is directly from us. Please do not buy from these companies and they are scammers.
