The Black History Month Showcase is tomorrow and as we are getting pumped for tomorrow’s event we asked our participants what the showcase meant to them!

Meet Samuel Walker (President) who states, “The Black History Month Showcase is important to me because it gives black students a time to feel seen, heard, and supported. The Showcase let’s us share our talents with others through honoring our history. It’s honestly one of the best forms of unity on our campus.“

This image holds so much power. The mask is truly doing all of the talking. Black/African Americans have been silenced for way too long. The time is now to speak on the injustices that America was built on, and by using over voices we can make and create the change that needs to happen.

Pleased to announce that the United African American Society received, the Student Organization - “Program of the Year” award for our “Black History Month Showcase”. We are so thrilled to have received this honor, and want to thank everyone who was involved and those who attended! We can’t wait to make next years, “Black History Month Showcase” even bigger and better!!✊🏾✨

As Spring Break commences, we have time to sit back and reflect on our first annual “Black History Month Showcase!” The showcase embodied the word “unity”. Having an event that showcased Black/African-American students talent and art was beautiful. The “Black History Month Showcase”, had over 120 people in attendance and got 30 people registered to vote. Thank you those who came out and showed their love and support! If you weren’t able to either perform or attend, we hope to see you next year at the next, “Black History Month Showcase!”

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s, Day of Service our board went out in the community and participated in various service projects.

Featured in this post is Samuel Walker (President of U.A.A.S.) who helped with loading goods that were going to homeless shelters in Greensboro.
