Troop 1993 planned a backpacking trip to Beaver Bend State Park in Broken Bow, OK for its April campout. Our scouts worked on their backcountry skills including cooking and water purifications. Overall a fun trip for all with new and special challenges for our scouts. A huge thanks to our adult leaders that backpacked with the scouts: Mr. Moore, Mr. Cornelius and Mr. Barberee.

The scouts had a great weekend camping at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch. Troop 1993 was well represented by a couple of teams participating in the Spring-O orienteering competition on Saturday morning. What a great experience for these scouts to work their map and compass, teamwork and leadership skills.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, the Congressional Scouting Caucus, led by U.S. Representatives Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA), Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (D-GA), and Pete Sessions (R-TX), introduced a resolution celebrating Scouting America Day.

Scouting America was incorporated in Chicago, Illinois, on February 8, 1910. Since then, millions of young men and women have joined Scouting and have learned the values of patriotism, courage, and self-reliance.

“I have been involved in Scouting for more than 50 years, which has made a profoundly positive impact upon my life,” Rep. Thompson said. “The lessons learned from Scouting are invaluable. I am grateful for my colleagues on the Scouting Caucus for celebrating this cause and ensuring the legacy of Scouting will continue to grow for generations to come.”

“I am proud to join my colleagues, fellow Eagle Scouts and co-Chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Scouting Caucus, Representatives Thompson and Sessions, in introducing today’s resolution,” Rep. Bishop said. “Congress continues to recognize that Scouting engages young men and women, instills in them values, builds their character, and promotes leadership. All of this makes our nation stronger from coast-to-coast, across industries, and in public service – from Congress and our courts to the White House and our Armed Forces as well as state and local governments throughout the country.”

“As an Eagle Scout, I know firsthand that Scouting America is more than an organization; it is a proving ground for character,” Rep. Sessions said. “For 116 years, Scouting has instilled duty to God, service to country, and responsibility to others in generations of young Americans. This resolution recognizes an institution that strengthens our communities, prepares leaders, and quietly builds the moral backbone of our nation, and I am proud to serve as a co-lead in honoring its legacy.”

“On behalf of the entire Scouting movement, we extend our gratitude to the Scouting Caucus and to our nation’s leaders for this joint resolution recognizing Scouting America Day,” said Roger Krone, President and CEO of Scouting America. “Across the country each day, Scouts commit themselves to serving God and country. They hike, climb, shoot, paddle, and build character and leadership through service to their communities and to the nation. None of this would be possible without the steadfast support of our religious and civic partners and the dedication of more than half a million volunteer leaders.”

📣 Announcement: Special 250th Anniversary Eagle Scout Certificate (2026) 🇺🇸🦅

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and in recognition of Scouting America’s partnership with America250, Scouting America will present all Eagle Scouts who earn the rank in 2026 with a special commemorative Eagle Scout certificate.

This limited-edition certificate will be available only to Scouts who achieve the Eagle Scout rank during the 2026 calendar year.

✅ What Scouts and units need to know:
• The special certificate will begin issuing automatically starting February 1, 2026
• No special request is required—it will replace the standard Eagle certificate for all 2026 recipients
• Scouts who earned Eagle in January 2026 may request a reprint through their local council using the current complimentary reprint process
• Councils are asked to submit January 2026 reprint requests as a consolidated weekly list to support timely processing

Congratulations to all 2026 Eagle Scouts—this is a meaningful way to honor service, leadership, and achievement during a historic year.

Congratulations to Leo Ames, our newest Eagle Scout, who completed his board of review last night.

The Troop held its annual planning Campout at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch over the weekend. Our Scouts spent time brainstorming on activities they want to participate in and places to visit in 2026. The Scouts had some really ambitious ideas. The scouts also cleaned out the Troop trailer and did a deep cleaning of the patrol chuck-boxes. We are somptoud of all the work they completed. Of course, the scouts found time fellowship, fun games and a Saturday night campfire at the dining hall. Huge thanks to the Troop’s adult leaders that helped make this weekend possible. Thank you Mr. Haynes, Mr. Schulte, Mr. Mason, Ms. Yilmaz, Mr. Moore and Mr. Barberee.
