June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.
Did you know that one of the most effective ways to support your mental health is to get moving?
Regular physical activity has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve mood, lower stress, and boost self-confidence. In fact, research has found that people who are physically active have a 20–30% lower risk of depression compared to those who are inactive.
The good news? You don't have to run a marathon to experience the benefits.
🏃 Take a walk around the neighborhood
💪 Try a strength training workout
🏀 Join a sports league
👥 Attend a group fitness class
🚴 Find an activity you enjoy and stick with it
At the Y, we see every day how movement helps people build not only stronger bodies, but stronger minds. Exercise creates opportunities for connection, community, stress relief, and personal growth—all important components of mental well-being.
Remember: Any movement counts. Small steps can make a big impact.
Strong Body. Strong Mind. Better Life.
