On May 4th — Star Wars Day — Sheryl L., who attends Head Injury Association’s Structured Day Program, had the incredible opportunity as a recipient of the 2025 Kinexion Women’s Empowerment Grant to attend her very first Yankees game at Yankee Stadium in style as the New York Yankees took on the Baltimore Orioles. As a lifelong Yankees fan, this was an experience Sheryl never imagined would become a reality. More than anything, she wanted to share this special day with her son — an opportunity to give back to him for all of the care and love he has given her while creating new memories they would cherish for a lifetime.

Thanks to the 2025 Kinexion Network Women’s Empowerment Grant — along with support from her HIA SDP staff throughout the application process— Sheryl was able to share this unforgettable experience with her son and her grandson. From an exclusive pregame tour of Yankee Stadium to premium Champions Suite seating just a few rows away from first base, every part of the day felt truly special.

With funding from the Grant, Sheryl’s son thoughtfully planned a truly special day for his mother — wanting to give her an experience she would never forget. Their trip included transportation to and from the game, a behind-the-scenes pregame tour of Yankee Stadium, and access to the exclusive Champions Suite area featuring VIP stadium entry, premium all-inclusive dining, climate-controlled lounge access, private restrooms, in-seat wait service, and incredible views close enough to hear the crack of the bat and feel the energy from the dugout. The game also took place during Yankee Stadium’s Star Wars Weekend celebration, which included Star Wars themed activities and a Max Fried Mandalorian bobblehead giveaway, making the day even more meaningful, memorable, and magical for Sheryl.

This unforgettable experience was about more than baseball — it was about family, connection, accessibility, and the joy of making dreams possible. 💙

Leadership. Advocacy. Impact.

Our President & CEO, Walter Stockton, was featured in Long Island Business News sharing insights on what 2026 holds for organizations serving people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

While New York State’s continued investments are encouraging, uncertainty at the federal level reminds us why collaboration, shared services and collective advocacy matter more than ever. At Kinexion, we remain focused on strengthening our network so frontline care, workforce support and service quality are protected — no matter the challenges ahead.
