The NEED Project

The NEED Project Over 45 Years of Putting Energy into Education!

NEED is always expanding and evolving to best meet the needs of teachers and students, in the classroom and beyond! The NEED Project has a curriculum portfolio of over 100 teacher and student guides designed to teach teachers and students about energy. The training opportunities offered by NEED include a multitude of teacher professional development and training for school district energy personne

l. NEED’s work in after-school programs, student clubs, scouting groups, and home school networks also continues to grow. One of our strongest elements is that we bring all the forms of energy into one comprehensive picture, and at every grade level.

“The biggest liquid hydrogen tank in the world, a sphere 83 feet in diameter, sits at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, at the historic Launch Complex 39B, where it was completed in 2022. The previous record-holder is just a few hundred feet away. That tank, which has about two-thirds the capacity of the new addition, was built in the 1960s to support the Apollo launches.”

On the final day of the Massachusetts Energy Conference for Educators, teachers explored energy efficiency, energy conservation, and climate science through hands-on learning.

From the Energy House challenge to modeling the greenhouse effect in a beaker, educators experienced inquiry-based activities they can take back to their classrooms and learning environments.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this week! We can't wait to see these lessons inspire the next generation of energy-literate students! 🌎💡

And thank you to the sponsors for their support of this great professional development opportunity ⚡️
