Mondays with MAEF - Thank You for Making a Difference This School Year! 💙💛

As we head into summer and close another school year, we would like to thank our community for their amazing support!

Because of your generosity, MAEF was able to:
• Award more than $82,000 in Classroom Grants to Mahtomedi Public Schools staff
• Provide $59,500 in post-secondary scholarships to Mahtomedi students
• Raise more than $200,000 in support of our schools through the Zephyr Gala

This spring provided opportunities to celebrate the Class of 2026! We were proud to sponsor the Celebration of Excellence and the Future Educators Breakfast, while continuing our tradition of recognizing every senior with a class sign.

Thank you for helping create opportunities that have a lasting impact on our students, staff, and community. We wish you a summer filled with joy, adventure, and time to make lasting memories!

A MAEF Classroom Grant was awarded last fall to Mahtomedi Community Education to start a new summer literacy program!

The Page Turner Challenge will encourage students who have completed grades 5-7 to read during the summer!

This program meets seven times throughout the summer. Each session involves a FREE book for your student to read and keep, a visit from a local author, and challenges with local prizes!

📖 This summer, Mahtomedi Community Education is partnering with our district's Advanced Academics Coordinator to offer a low-cost, high-energy summer literacy program for middle school students: The Page Turner Challenge!

Open to students who have completed grades 5-7, the challenge includes five engaging evening sessions plus a final Book Battle in the fall. Students will:

📕Receive a new book at every session to read and add to their home library
🍨 Enjoy snacks, icebreakers, and small-group discussions with friends
✍️ Meet the actual authors of each book and dive into their creative process
🏁 Win prizes through challenges and games

Congratulations to Josie Schifksy, the recipient of the first Wendy Jo Shaffer Scholarship for Women in Engineering!!

This scholarship honors Wendy Jo Shaffer’s legacy by supporting Josie as she pursues her education and works toward a degree in science. We are thrilled to be part of her journey and to help carry forward Wendy’s passion for learning and making a difference. The award was presented by Wendy’s brothers, Michael and Patrick.

The Wendy Jo Shaffer Scholarship for Women in Engineering is designed to empower highly motivated high school and college-age women pursuing careers in engineering, math, or science. The scholarship is administered by the Mahtomedi Area Educational Foundation (MAEF) in partnership with the Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation.

Mondays with MAEF

Investing in the future of Mahtomedi students! ⭐

This year, the Mahtomedi Area Educational Foundation (MAEF) awarded $59,500 in scholarships to the Mahtomedi High School Class of 2026. Scholarship awards also included renewals for recipients of the American Legion Kramer Berg Post 507 Scholarship who completed their freshman year of college and are continuing their education.

These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of individuals, families, and community partners who believe in the power of education and are committed to supporting students as they pursue their interests.

Congratulations to all the scholarship recipients, and thank you to the donors who make these opportunities possible!

Don’t miss the STEM Expo & FabLab Open House at Mahtomedi High School, Thursday, May 21, from 5-7 PM.

Over the years, MAEF has been proud to support many of these innovative programs through grants, sponsorships, and fund-a-need, including:
• The FabLab
• MAPS (Modeling a Protein Story)
• NASA HUNCH Program
• Robotics Team
• Rocket Team

This community event is a great chance to explore STEM opportunities at Mahtomedi Public Schools and see students share their passion for innovation, creativity, and learning.
