Does anyone else ever feel like their house is always under attack?
Not just the hard behaviors.
Everything.
The marriage gets strained.
The finances get tight.
Someone is always sick.
The car breaks down.
The washing machine quits.
The unexpected bills show up.
The exhaustion piles up.
And just when you think you can finally catch your breath, something else happens.
I’ve heard so many foster parents say the same thing:
“It’s like the hits never stop.”
And maybe you’ve wondered if it’s just you.
Maybe you’ve wondered if you’re doing something wrong.
Maybe you’ve even asked God, “If this is what You called me to, why does it feel like everything is falling apart?”
I’ve asked those questions too.
Because there are seasons when it feels like you’re fighting battles on every front.
You’re trying to help children heal.
You’re trying to protect your marriage.
You’re trying to keep food on the table.
You’re trying to stay healthy.
You’re trying to keep showing up when you’re already running on empty.
And the weight of it all can feel crushing.
But can I encourage you for a minute?
The enemy doesn’t waste his energy on homes that aren’t making a difference.
He comes after the places where cycles are being broken.
The places where children are learning what safety feels like.
The places where love keeps showing up.
The places where Jesus is being lived out, not just talked about.
That doesn’t mean every hardship is spiritual warfare.
Cars break.
People get sick.
Life happens.
But I do believe there are moments when the pressure feels relentless because what is happening inside your home matters more than you realize.
So if you’re in one of those seasons where everything feels heavy, don’t assume God has abandoned you.
Don’t assume you’ve missed His will.
Don’t assume the struggle means you’re failing.
Sometimes the fiercest battles happen in the places doing the most Kingdom work.
So keep praying.
Keep loving.
Keep showing up.
And when you’re too tired to stand, remember that God is still holding up the house even when you feel like you can’t.
Don’t give up.
The enemy would love for you to quit.
God is still writing the story.
