On last week we spoke out with conviction about Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz’s decision to run for congress in Florida’s Congressional District 20 seat. One of only two Black Access districts that remain in Florida. The Congressional Black Caucus(CBC) Chairwoman Rep. Clarke officially sets the record straight. During her time on CNN today(May 30th) the CBC chairwoman made it clear that they DO NOT support and DID NOT encourage Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to run.

The Black Caucus serves as a powerful legislative collective and advocacy group made up of Black members of congress for Black Americans and other marginalized communities. We must stand firm and call on Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz to withdraw her candidacy for CD-20.

Florida lawmakers failed again to pass a state budget during the regular session, forcing a special session while families face rising housing costs and economic strain. Today they finally passed a budget, we think missed the mark in some key areas. Here’s what you should know.

We will also break down important parts of this budget during our Legislative tour stops moving forward.

Florida lawmakers have one constitutional responsibility: pass a state budget. For the second consecutive year, they failed to do so during the regular legislative session, forcing taxpayers to fund repeated returns to Tallahassee for special sessions because of political dysfunction and gridlock.In...

Did you know the site of the largest battle fought in Florida during the Civil War still remains without a proper US memorial?

The Battle of Olustee represented the “interracial coalition that freed enslaved people, and simultaneously preserved the U.S., even though it cost them their lives. Their skeletal remains still lie in body bags in a mass grave dug by occupying forces after the war; they lay there unknown and un-honored because of the cause for which they gave that last full measure”. (Source AAIHS.ORG)

Black Floridians are still fighting a battle to be honored and recognized amongst the living. Today we memorialize the lives of all those who made sacrifices for our safety and freedom.

Reactions from beer and far have rolled in following Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s decision to run for Congress in one of two remaining Black Access districts. We all have a responsibility to honor the voting rights gains that generations bled to secure. Choosing not to do so is a choice.

A survey of 1,600 young Black men finds campaigns ignore these key voters who “value democracy” but feel unseen by both parties.
