Jarrod M. Lockett Foundation

Jarrod M. Lockett Foundation The Jarrod M. Lockett Foundation was created in 2013, after the tragic murder of Jarrod M. Lockett in 2012.

In an effort to turn tragedy into triumph, The JML Foundation was established to create awareness of how violent crime impacts victim's families, provide support to those families, and honor the life of Jarrod whose life was cut short by gun violence! Justin Lockett decided that it was time for an organization that focused decreasing the potential for violence in our communities by meaningful comm

unity involvement, education, and service opportunities in efforts to provide safer environments for all. Lockett Foundation educates families about the effects of gun violence and how to properly have preventative conversations. Provide Outreach programs within the community to support families who are victims of violent crimes. Engage the community with public forums and events to share stories of the effects of violence. And encourage trusting relationships between the community and the Police.

This summer, our League of Legacy Mentoring Program is committed to creating meaningful experiences, unforgettable memories, and positive opportunities for the young men we serve and one of the exciting activities we have planned is a trip to Six Flags!

We are reaching out to our community for support as we continue planning a summer full of fun, growth, mentorship, and fellowship for the young men in our program.

The cost to sponsor one young man for the Six Flags trip is $80, which includes admission, food, and transportation. Any amount given is truly appreciated and helps us continue pouring into these young men throughout the summer.

Thank you in advance for your continued support, encouragement, and belief in the mission of the Jarrod Michael Lockett Foundation. Because of supportive people like you, we are able to create opportunities and experiences that many of these young men will never forget.

If you would like to sponsor a young man or contribute to our summer activities, please click the link below.

The Jarrod Michael Lockett Foundation is a public non-profit organization, striving to decrease the potential for violence in our communities by meaningful community involvement, education, and service opportunities in efforts to provide safer environments for all.

Congratulations to Adrian on graduating from Grissom High School 🎓 Man, we’ve really seen it all over the years. So many conversations, trips, lessons, laughs, setbacks, obstacles, and moments that helped shape the young man you’ve become today. The growth. The maturity. The battles fought internally and externally. The moments where you had to keep pushing even when life got heavy. Every lesson, every challenge, and every experience prepared you for this moment right here. And watching you grow into your own man has been one of the greatest blessings. Couldn’t be more proud of you, Adrian. Keep growing, keep elevating, and never forget how far you’ve already come. The next chapter is just getting started.

Life really came full circle with this one. I met Deionte when he was just 14 years old, one of the very first young men to join our program back when it was called Born to Succeed. Now here we are, he’s 30 years old, our brother, forever family, he’s a successful father, watching his daughter Harlee graduate from elementary school. That’s the beauty of real mentorship and REAL relationships. You get to watch young men grow up, become fathers, build families, and pour love into the next generation. Proud of you, Deionte, and Harlee, we love you and are so proud of you too. Grateful to witness the growth of both of you over the years.

I remember meeting Jaylen back in middle school. Extremely quiet, reserved, barely spoke at times. It took patience, consistency, and time to really build that connection and earn his trust. But little by little, we watched him grow. We watched him start believing in himself more. Watched his confidence build. Watched him learn to drive, get his first and second job, open up more, smile more, and really start finding his way. That’s the part people don’t always see about mentorship. It’s not just “meetings.” It’s showing up over and over again until a young person realizes they matter, they’re capable, and they have people in their corner no matter what. Now he’s graduating and headed to University of Alabama at Birmingham this fall. Man, proud doesn’t even explain it. The world hasn’t even seen the best of you yet!

Congratulations to Jaylen on graduating from Sparkman High School 🎓 We still remember meeting him back in middle school. He was quiet, shy, and reserved. It took time to earn his trust, but watching him slowly come out of his shell and grow into the young man he is today has been something special to witness. Now he’s headed to University of Alabama at Birmingham this fall, and we couldn’t be more proud. This is why mentorship matters. Sometimes all a young person needs is consistency, patience, encouragement, and people who never stop believing in them until they finally believe in themselves.

Mentorship can look like a workout together, trying sushi for the first time, learning to change a car battery something simple that every young man should know. And most importantly having real conversations throughout the day. Proud of Garion and the bond we’re beginning to build.
