The Hillside School - Lehigh Valley

The Hillside School - Lehigh Valley Hillside is a K-9 independent school serving students with language-based learning differences since 1983.

Many students come to Hillside after avoiding school, struggling—no matter how hard they try—in class and with homework, and experiencing the physical symptoms of extreme stress. As a result, we take a holistic approach to helping our students, from teaching methodologies and assistive technology to counseling and developing executive functioning skills. Our experienced teachers and counselors wor

k together as a supportive, collaborative nurturing team to develop the potential of each child. Ultimately, as our students perform up to their ability and learn life skills, they are happier, healthier, and better prepared for the challenges that lay ahead. Our graduates go on to find success at a variety of secondary schools, including Moravian Academy, Perkiomen School, Parkland High School, and Notre Dame High School, as well as universities and careers including Lehigh University’s P.C. Rossin College of Engineering, Penn State (Ph.D.), and dentistry (University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine School).

We’re excited to introduce Wendy Goldman as one of our Upper School teachers for the 2026-2027 school year!

Wendy holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University and is currently pursuing a Special Education Certificate through Kutztown University. She also brings extensive experience supporting elementary and middle school learners through differentiated instruction and student-centered learning.

Austin holds a B.S. in Middle Level Education from East Stroudsburg University and brings previous experience as a Design Technology teacher.

We’re excited to introduce Aleshea Maurer as one of our Upper School teachers for the 2026–2027 school year!

Aleshea holds a B.S. in Speech Pathology from Bloomsburg University and an M.Ed. in Special Education from Lehigh University. She also brings previous experience as a Middle School teacher.
