🤝 Community impact starts with great conversations and shared vision.

Recently, our newly appointed Executive Director, LaMonna Galyon, joined Astra Radio and Kristi Showalter to share more about the Rice County Community Foundation's mission, the opportunities ahead, and ways we can continue strengthening our communities together.

The conversation highlighted upcoming initiatives, including Patterson Family Foundation Week, an opportunity for community members to maximize their giving and make an even greater impact on local nonprofits serving Rice County.

We're grateful for the opportunity to share our story and invite you to join us as we continue building a stronger, more vibrant future for Rice County.

🎧 Thank you to Astra Radio and Kristi Showalter for the opportunity to spotlight the work of the Rice County Community Foundation and the power of community philanthropy.

This Memorial Weekend, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave so much in service to our country.

Here in Rice County, one way our community continues that spirit of remembrance is through the Lyons Veterans Fund, which supports efforts such as veteran banners, cemetery markers, and flag displays that help ensure our veterans are recognized with dignity and gratitude.

As you spend time with family and friends this weekend, we invite you to consider making a gift in honor or memory of a veteran who has impacted your life. Your generosity helps preserve their legacy for generations to come.

Honor. Remember. Support.

There is something truly special about seeing local students celebrated by the community that helped raise them.

At the Farewell Awards Ceremony in Lyons, Kansas, the Rice County Community Foundation proudly recognized three deserving scholarship recipients who are ready to take their next steps with purpose and pride.

Gilberto Silva-Paez Jr. was awarded the Roth Family Scholarship.
Diego Gamez was awarded the Knight Family – K-State Scholarship.
Tiffany Cereceres was awarded both the Knight Family – Vo-Tech Scholarship and the LHS Class of 1961 Scholarship.

These students remind us why investing in education matters. Their hard work, character, and dreams reflect the strength of our community.

Congratulations to each of you — your future is bright, and your hometown is proud.

✈️ Get ready for a fun night that’s cleared for takeoff!

The Rice County Community Foundation is proud to support the Rice County Municipal Airport Fund, which helps sustain vital airport operations, community events, and future growth.

Supporting this fund is a great way to help our local airport soar — and the fun will really fly when you’re out on the runway! 🛫

Plus, the Llew Brown Band will take you on a trip around the world of 80s music, bringing the energy, nostalgia, and good times all night long. 🎶🌎

Bring your friends, bring your family, and come be part of a community event that supports something important while having a whole lot of fun.

Let’s help the Rice County Municipal Airport Fund take flight! ✈️

Before ➡️ After!

Our Rice County Community Foundation display asked a simple but meaningful question: “If you had $1,000 to improve our community, what would you do?”

Students shared their ideas on sticky notes, and the most popular answer among Middle School and High School students was clear: improve roads! 🛣️

We loved seeing students think about local impact, lasting change, and what matters most to them in our community.

Thank you, Lyons High School, for including Rice County Community Foundation and giving students the opportunity to share their voices. 💙

Right in the middle… and right where community comes together 💙

Bushton is proud to be the Geographic Center of Kansas—and now, there’s a marker to prove it!

This new landmark is more than just a sign… it’s a starting point. A place that has the potential to welcome hundreds—even thousands—as we begin sharing Bushton’s story across the state.

We’re excited to continue working alongside local partners to grow this into a destination right here in Rice County.

📍 Come stand in the center of it all—and see why Bushton is something special.

Please join us in welcoming Kristin Dolechek to the Rice County Community Foundation board! 🌾

Kristin, Lyons High School’s Agriculture Education Instructor and FFA Advisor, brings a whole lot of heart (and a little farm grit) to Rice County. Raised on a Nebraska family farm and active in 4-H and FFA, she turned her passion into a career—earning both her degree and Master’s from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and growing a thriving ag program in Shickley for seven years.

Now in Lyons, Kristin, is excited to build the Ag Ed program and FFA chapter from the ground up—something she calls a “fun challenge.” We call it a perfect fit. 😉

With her energy, experience, and love for community, Kristin is already a fantastic addition and a valuable asset to the Rice County Community Foundation. The future is looking bright! 🌱
