If you told 17 year old Johnny, that this is where the Lord would have brought him, I’d call you crazy!

Jokes aside, I could not be more honored, grateful, and humbled to be stepping into such a role. My passion since I was a teenager, was to do my part in letting the next generation know how much the Lord loves them and how much hope is in the name of Jesus. I’ve had a glimpse of the world that these students are growing up in as I grew up in it myself. In a world of technology and social media making it so the world feels that much bigger, problems that much closer, I know firsthand how hard it can be for teenagers to choose Jesus and pick up their cross daily. As having to have done so myself, I can say that it was not easy... but I can say that it was worth it. And it is my prayer everyday that teenagers and this next generation encounter the worth of following Christ. Not for our own gain, but because He is a God that is just that faithful and just that good.

All of this to say once more, I am honored. I am so grateful to Pastor Dan, without his mentorship I couldn’t be in the position I am to take this role on. So grateful for Pastor Jamie, for always believing in me and the call that God has on my life. But most of all, grateful for each student and parent that I will have the privilege of partnering with! As we all work together to give God the glory that only He alone is due.

I cannot wait to see what God is going to do and I cannot wait to see YOU at our next All Youth Night😉

It’s hard to put into words what Calvary Youth has meant to our family since I stepped into the role of Lead Youth Pastor back in 2021. These last 5 years have been some of the best years of our lives. From leading out of the pandemic, to bridging the transition from The Counter Influence to Calvary Youth (CY), to seeing the start and finish of our NextGen building project, to countless services, camps, retreats, conferences, mission trips and more, one thing has been clear: God has been incredibly kind and consistent to our church through every single season. Since I began pastoring in 2018, these last 8 years of my life have been formed by leading the next generation. As this season comes to an end, there are a profound amount of emotions. Thank you for praying for our family at this time.

As we process moving on from CY, I am still incredibly excited and looking forward to my new role on staff as Director of Operations. In short, I now have the honor to oversee systems & operations across our entire church! I truly believe this is where the Lord has been leading me. I step into this role with confidence knowing the One who calls is faithful! We will continue to love & pray for CY - you will always have a special place in our hearts.

What makes this transition so much easier is knowing who it is being handed to. I have had the privilege of watching Pastor Johnny go from being one of my junior high students when I interned here in 2016, to my first intern on staff in 2022, to becoming a full-time pastor in 2025, to now being the leader of CY. Alisha & I believe, trust, and know God has called Pastor Johnny to great things, and one of those things is taking CY to a whole new level. We are cheering him on and are here as a resource if they need it in any way moving forward.

Parents, thank you for trusting Alisha and me with your students. Thank you for allowing us to speak into their lives, celebrate with them, cry with them, challenge them, and pray with them as we always pointed them toward Jesus. This is something I will never take for granted. I truly believe the best days are still ahead for Calvary Youth.

With much love,
Pastor Daniel & Alisha Kohn

Hey Calvary Family,

I know you already know but God is moving in our church! Every single week we’re seeing new faces walk through our doors, people saying yes to Jesus for the first time, and people being baptized.

On top of all of that and more, God is up to something special I want to tell you about.

We have the best church staff. I really, REALLY mean that. Over the past few months, several of them have been sensing God stir something new in their hearts — a new season, a new assignment. So here’s the good news up front: nobody is leaving. Everybody is staying. But some of our team is shifting seats on the bus.

First — Pastor Clark is becoming our Lynnfield Campus Pastor.

Second — Pastor Daniel is stepping into the role of Director of Operations.

Third — Third — with Pastor Daniel stepping out of youth, we needed a new Calvary Youth Pastor. And God already provided.

Pastor Johnny came on staff last year at Salem, and watching him pour into students has been incredible. Johnny is stepping up as our Calvary Youth Pastor — overseeing youth at every campus. ......Parents, students — you are in great hands.
A lot happening, and here is how you can help. Transitions like this take faith, and they take the whole church. So would you do a few things for me?

First, pray for Pastors Clark, Daniel, and Johnny by name. New assignments come with new pressure, new learning curves, and new spiritual warfare — pray God gives them wisdom, strength, and peace as they step into these roles.

Second, encourage them. If you see them, tell them you’re for them. A word of encouragement goes a long way when someone is stepping into something new.
And third, get behind them. Show up, serve alongside them, and help them succeed.

So — new seats, same team, and of course the same mission. To reach the lost right here on the North Shore of Boston.

Calvary, God is up to something special. I can feel it. I think you can feel it too. So buckle up — the best is ahead of us, not behind us.

God Bless,
Pastor Jamie - Lead Pastor of Calvary Christian Church
