Today Local 739 was in Boston for the funeral of Boston Firefighter Robert “BK” Kilduff. Thank you to the Gregg House for letting our members park, McGinn bus company for providing transport and the Lynn Police Dept for providing an es**rt to the funeral sight.

This week (May 17- May 23) marks the 52nd EMS week. Since 1974 this has been a time to honor and educate our Emergency Medical Services providers.

Local 739 members have been providing Emergency Medical Services in various iterations to the City of Lynn since the 1975.

Currently all members are required to be Emergency Medical Technicians or Paramedics staffing Medic 1 at the Advanced Life Support level.

Today Members of Local 739 were at Manning Field along with members of The Lynn Police Dept for the Annual Special Games. Over the past few years Local 739 has not only sponsored lunch for the athletes but members have also manned the grills cooking for the 600 participants as well as our sq**rt house to help with Fire Prevention Education.

This year members also ran from LPD Headquarters on Washington Street to Manning Field alongside the Lynn Police to es**rt the ceremonial torch to open the Games.

Apparatus Alert

Due to lengthy repairs to two of the three frontline ladder companies Ladder 2 ( Western Ave) will be using a Malden Ladder and Tower 4 ( Broadway) will be using Peabody Tower Ladder. Ladder 1 ( Fayette St) is operating our 25 year old spare ladder. These companies are manned by Lynn Firefighters. This allows us to maintain a safe level of service for the residents and visitors of Lynn.

Due to an on going nationwide shortage of fire apparatus the ability to borrow these trucks is crucial to maintaining safety both for the City and our members. Local 739 thanks Malden Firefighters Local 902 and Professional Fire Fighters of Peabody Ma Local 925 for the loan of these trucks.

Last night at our monthly meeting IAFF District 3 VP Jay Colbert was present to swear our 8 new members into the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM). Welcome aboard Brothers.
