THE LYNDEN SATURDAY MORNING POST: Dad Day Edition
French Toast at the Rusty Wagon or Rustlers Front Street Grill if delicious egg-soaked and golden grilled bread is on the breakfast menu this morning, and don't forget the pancake breakfast at VFW Post 9301 - Lynden, WA to give Dad a tasty Saturday morning and our local veterans some much-needed funds to help them help those who have defended our freedoms

+ Last day for Surroundings Home, Gifts and Garden is TODAY! Everything must go as the Retirement Sale enters its final hours, and as a "thank you!" to the community, we hear some strawberry shortcake is being served up, but allow us the opportunity to Thank the Surroundings crew for keeping our homes looking seasonal and fashionable for all these years! YOU all are loved!

+ Remember the "Whatcom this Whey" Dairy Tours are today, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Twin Brook Creamery, Edaleen Dairy, Grace Harbor Farms and Steensma Dairy & Creamery among others, Visit https://bit.ly/4xAvUHj for an interactive map and more information on how to enjoy a visit to dairy during dairy month!

+ Also is the designated yard work day for many in L-town, and Vander Giessen Nursery has some wonderfully colored Lynden Baskets on sale, along with all types of other annual and perennial plants, shrubs and flowers to make the homestead look marvelous!

+ Speaking of homestead, should one decide to get Father a membership to Homestead Fitness Center, Lynden Anytime Fitness, Anytime Fitness Lynden NORTH or Forge Fitness, just a reminder to check the last time dear old Dad got new gym shorts, then maybe check the inventory at Summit Thrift Store or Second Chance Thrift Store if something, uhm, more, mmmmmm, ah, "fitting" is in order.

+ Dad would also likely appreciate a tasty meal at the Rustic Bar and Grill, located inside the Cobblestone Hotel & Suites - Lynden, but call ahead for a dinner reservation. We just know that when some of the 2026 Curt Maberry Memorial Classic 3-on-3, presented by the Muljat Group North players find out the great food at their accommodations, others will be wishing they made reservations at the hotel, too!

+ That's just a sampling of the Father's Day Weekend fun going on in Lynden, plus excellent weather, so get out, bring a smile to Dad's face, and remember, just like Pa, YOU are loved!

GOOD MORNING LYNDEN, IT'S FRIDAY!
U.S versus Australia in Seattle today at Noon, which we believe means the Aussie's will be watching from home on Saturday morning before or during breakfast.
Well, cooked the gray matter before the coffee was even done this morning with that one

+ And for those also rooting for de Nederland's Oranje, tomorrow 10 a.m. versus Sweden.
Hup Holland Hup!

A BIG Dad's Day Weekend "Welkom" to those guests of the Cobblestone Hotel & Suites - Lynden, The Inn at Lynden, The Lynden/Bellingham KOA Campground and Oostema Farmstead, Lynden as they join with us on this special weekend, and we thank them for visiting Lynden!

+ Call and get Dad a year's subscription to the Lynden Tribune. Keeps him informed about the comings and goings around town, and reminding him of his most thoughtful child gift for 52 weeks straight...

+ Westside Building Supply is an excellent Father's Day gift discovery, not for all the Pa's out there, but for sure the handy dandy fix 'em up or make it types

+ For Your Consideration: A monthly subscription to Everwash either to De Wagen Wasserij or Splash N Dash Lynden, or both, to help keep Dad's cruiser clean and shiny all summer long, especially as we enter the Great Bug Massacre Season

Enjoy the sun, have some fun and YOU are loved!

¡Buenos días, gente de Lynden! (Good morning, fine people of Lynden!)

Sunshine in abundance coming up, which is not unlike the discounts available from the great folks at T-Mobile. We tell ya, it's enough to make the Klompen-wearing fiscally aware types shed a tear, because it's kind of discount buffet or sorts, with something for nearly everybody to $ave $ome $$$.
Aged 55 and up? Yep, one for you all. You've earned it, having lived through the Miami Vice era and all.
Military, past or present? Yep, you too. Thanks for serving and keep your cash.
First Responders of all types? You betcha, that's a big 10-4!
Teachers? There's a lesson in saving there!
A couple thousand different companies and organizations, state employees, and a bunch of others.
Just stop by the T-Mobile location in the Fairway Center Lynden, get a milkshake at The Fairway Cafe', and $ave on your cell bill so you can get a piece of Rose's pie, perhaps to share with others.
Banana or Coconut cream, if you're wondering. And that chocolate peanut butter number whose name escapes us right now.

FYI: WECU is not only our presenting sponsor for the Northwest Raspberry Festival, but they have some HIGH interest checking accounts available when your money is working for you just sitting back and relaxing. 8% in some cases. There are a few requirements to meet to qualify, although unlike the Barf-a-Whirler at the The Northwest Washington Fair and Event Center, being yay tall isn't one of 'em.

Speaking of, did you get your Fair Bank of the Pacific Stage grandstand entertainment tickets yet? Demo Derby, Rodeo, and of course various artists of different genre's to entertain everyone! Visit www.NWWAFAIR.com for more info

Seems we must be doing something right as the fine folks from WSDOT have once again asked us to share some information with all of you, but this time time it's not about the roundabout work at Benson and Badger, but instead on resurfacing projects on Badger and Guide that will be starting in... drum roll please... 2028! So we'll be sharing the actual link come July 1st, when the survey opens, but we should all be ponder a trail extension, as an example, aka "alternative transportation corridor", aka "a complete streets project".
So more to come on that in a couple weeks

Alright, we went long, again, so time to get the day moving and remind you that regardless of the savings, the events or the weather, the most important item to know is that YOU are loved!

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING TO YOU!
Don't go without breakfast to start your day, so if you're in a rush try McDonald's Egg McMuffin with orange juice and those crispy little hashbrown patty things.
Much better to start your day than with tic-tac wedged in the bottom of the cup holder in the family cruiser

+ Your Wednesday Morning Coffee Weather Forecast, with meteorologist Peit Van Guessing: Warm, warmer, still warmer but not warmer than warmer, touch cooler but still warm, much warmer, warmer still, hot, warmish.
Brought to you unknowingly by Lynden Family Physical Therapy, your rehabilitative experts getting the most stubborn of Lynden-ites up and running for over 30 years!

+ Time to play "Circle the Calendar"!
* Puget Sound Antique Tractor and Machinery Assoc. Tractor Truck Pull at the Berthusen Park West Pulling Track, June 27 & 28, age 7 years and older $15.
* The Witty & Retired Protectors of Freedom at VFW Post 9301 - Lynden, WA Pancake Breakfast on June 20, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.,
7011 Hannegan Road, Lynden. Just south of the Cascade Compost & Soil entrance on the corner of Hanngean and Meadowlark Drive.
* Also Saturday June 20, Bruce Scholten Book Signing at Village Books & Paper Dreams in Lynden, starting at 3 p.m. in BEAUTIFUL downtown Lynden!
* We had a nice little riff on the the North Whatcom Colonoscopy Club meeting behind town in the alley, but we would probably get a little stuff for that, so we'll keep that crack until next April Fools so such tomfoolery doesn't get us in the end.
Moving on...

+ Another reminder tot get those teams signed up for the 2026 Curt Maberry Memorial Classic 3-on-3, presented by the Muljat Group North as soon as possible. The Muljat Group North crew tells us that we have around double the usual teams signed as at this time as we ever have, so we MAY, which means we might have to, but might not, have to cut off registration earlier this year, so if you want to play in Downtown Tourney-town, nows the time to get your team registration in!

That's enough for today, God willing there will be more tomorrow, and as always just a reminder that YOU are loved!

HEADS UP! And please, wave to the crews with the full hand

Seems the folks at WSDOT, through the work of Colacurcio Brothers Inc., are going to be doing a little bit of roadway safety modifications in the form of what they call a "compact roundabout" at the intersection of Benson and Badger, and the work involves closing down Badger Road for about a week.
The closure to all traffic will begin this Sunday, June 21, and go through Saturday, June 27., then coming back and finishing up some of the work in July sometime.
People will still have access to homes and businesses in the area, including the PeaceHealth Lynden Clinic and Kulshan Veterinary Hospital, but one may be taking a lesser known route to get from point A to point B.

Here's what WSDOT gave us in the form of a press release, apparently recognizing grammar and such isn't considered to be our strong suit.

"Passenger vehicles will follow a signed detour using Main Street and Depot Road and can also take Pangborn Road north of the intersection. Freight traffic should detour using SR 539/Guide Meridian, SR 544/East Pole Road and SR 9/Nooksack Avenue during the six-day closure.

During the closure, contractor crews will remove the existing intersection, prepare the area for the compact roundabout, build new curbs and islands, pave, and place signs and temporary pavement markings. Crews will return in July after the pavement has cured to install permanent striping and finish construction.

There could also be as many as four daytime, single-lane closures of SR 546 with flaggers alternating eastbound and westbound traffic during construction. Benson Road traffic will detour using Depot Road during these closures. WSDOT will announce dates for these lane reductions as they are scheduled."

So there you go. The straight talk from the road folks, and they've even been kind enough to share this little map that we can share with you. Practically speaking, there will probably be a few more cars in town as some of the Eastside folks head to the Westside without using the Badger shortcut, but with schools out and knowing that having a safer intersection is a good thing, we'll just practice our patience, and we hope you do, too.

God bless, enjoy your Tuesday, and even more than a compact roundabout, way more to be honest, YOU are loved!

Muggy Monday (Here's to cooler nights ahead!)
Touch of humidity in the air this morning, sitting at 78% as we type away in the early a.m.'s, so please join with us as we salute the naturally curly haired among us and wish them the best on today's taming the hair adventures!
Moving on before we get Aqua Net in our eyes...

+ We got a ring yesterday from someone interested in putting together a 4th of July parade-ish type event here in town, as has been done by others in past, but our question to all you, our esteemed pursuers of superior intellect, has anyone directly heard of a similar event going on in town? Please let us know as initiation may be a form of flattery, but doing twice the work for no reason is... not wise.

+ Get those 2026 Curt Maberry Memorial Classic 3-on-3, presented by the Muljat Group North basketball tourney team applications in, now with online registration and payment at www.lynden3on3.net

+ Also to those interested in helping as a court monitor, referee and/or score keeper, please give a electronic message to Ms. Kaliey at Manna Insurance Group, the top notch crew of folks who been helping organize those court side helpers for the 3-on-3 for many years now. Kailey at mannainsurancegroup dot com. We would say how many years that is but alas, the hour is early, the mind is weak and the coffee has yet to kick in, so we will go with "a while"...

+ Before the time for doing so passes, we would like to all Ms. Christa and her team at Surroundings Home, Gifts and Garden for being such a wonderful shopping and browsing experience for so many years, both to those who call Lynden home as well as those visiting Lynden.
With the Surroundings Retirement Sale in it's final week, and similar to the situation with Dutch Mother's, we at the Lynden Chamber of Commerce look forward to years of being asked where Surroundings went, only now we know to start dropping phrases like "witness protection program" and "The sky has eyes" while pointing upward much earlier in such conversations

+ With most of the schools in the season of giving young minds a summer time-out, the Jansen Art Center has some wonderful summer classes exploring arts from painting to pottery to keep the hands of those active minds busy on productive activities.
Visit https://bit.ly/4vQ1uze for more information on the J's summer youth programs that make it fun to explore different skills and interests!

Thanks for reading along, having some fun, and loving on Lynden! God bless and YOU are loved!

THERE ARE SOME SUNDAYS in Lynden when one need only look up and see the infinite shades of blue, highlighted by the varying yellows of the sun’s rays shining like a frame around the periphery of a majestic work of art. It is in those moments, we know there will be blessings for which we will never be able to express the proper gratitude—blessings that are truly a gift, and for which a smiling and heartfelt “thank you,” though inadequate, will have to suffice, for these are the blessings that bring joy, joy, joy down in our hearts.
God bless, have a wonderful week ahead, and as the beautiful dawn of this very day shows, we, regardless of what shortcoming we believe we may have, are loved.

THE LYNDEN SATURDAY MORNING POST: ROUND DUEX
Our usual morning post seems to have disappeared quicker then an Edaleen Dairy ice cream cone in the hands of a toddler, or the first pot of coffee at the Dutch Treat Restaurant, but regardless of the analogy, apparently what we typed is no longer with us.
It was really good too, doggone it.
Oh well, we'll just find first gear and start over...

+ For sure the Lynden Tractor Trot and Loyal Order of Camels Fishing Derby have already begun, but around 8:30 this evening Coconut Kenny's is having their Lei'd Back Movie Night starting at 8:30 ish or so, another great Family Friendly & Affordable activity brought to you by members of the Lynden Chamber of Commerce!

+ Surroundings Home, Gifts and Garden at the Fairway Center Lynden have entered the final week of the retirement sale, with 50% off EVERYTHING!
Oops, seems we just had a few Dutchmen pass out in the back row from savings shock, so if somebody could wave a quarter under their nose to revive 'em, we would be grateful

+ Another reminder that we're in two-a-day weather for baskets, and 8 on 8's for the people. That's watering those gorgeous Vander Giessen Nursery Lynden-style flower baskets morning and late-evening when temps are over 82 degrees, and 8 ounces 8 times a day (or so) for people, to keep oneself hydrated and healthy when temperatures are up

+ Great day to hit De Wagen Wasserij to get the family cruiser clean and shiny for Sunday morning service, or just to see out of the windshield when one's driving into the sun

+ We were really glad to hear all people and animals at Grace Harbor Farms are safe after their unfortunate fire yesterday. Always a scary situation when the flames and smoke are rolling, and although there was some building and equipment damage, sounds like operations will continue

+ Speaking of dairy and such, circle the calendar for next Saturday and the Whatcom This Whey dairy farm tours. Here's the link for all the information on another great FREE family-friendly event! https://www.wadairy.org/whatcomthiswhey/
Great chance to tour places like Edaleen, Twin Brook Creamery and others to see how that milk and such really get to from the farm to your table

Seems for the second round we did ok, or at least got some information your way, so we hope your weekend is enjoyable, stay hydrated, check on those that need checking on, and remember that even more than ice cold chocolate cone on a warm spring day, YOU are loved!

GOOD MORNING LYNDEN, IT'S FRIDAY! (And Facepages is working again)
Both activity and weather-wise it's looking like a wonderful weekend in Lynden, with the Lynden Tractor Trot for those walker -trotter -runners among us, and the 80+ year going strong Loyal Order of Camels Kid's Fishing Derby at Lynden City Park, and plenty of sunshine and blue skies for whatever folks to choose to do

+ Coconut Kenny's Lynden Lei'd Back Movie Nights have returned! Yes, that BIG white rectangle on the side of Lynden Food Pavilion Farmer's Market off of 19th Street?
Yes siree, that's a custom painted movie screen, and coming up on Saturday nights this summer, weather permitting, bring a lawn chair and enjoy a show, with a starting time of around 8:30ish
June Lineup:
June 13th: Super Mario Brothers (The Movie)
June 20th: Cars
June 27th: Despicable Me

Yes, one should probably get a bite to eat at Coconut Kenny's, especially those Cowabunga balls, but it isn't required to watch the motion picture, so here's a clap of our popcorn-buttered hands for Team Coco for the free entertainment for families in and around Lynden!

+ Now that the Farmers Day Parade is in the books for another year, and we must say we are thankful for the weather on that day, our attention is focused on The Official 2026 Northwest Raspberry Festival presented by WECU . As we often mention, we put "official" in the title to help be on the lookout for scammers leaching like soul-sucking demons off our event in an attempt to get your financial information, and give us a ring at the office before you send any information via the internets or chatty apps

+ The weather is going to be getting up there temperature wise, so if you are outdoors, be it for work or play, hydration is key to avoiding all sorts of issues. The aforementioned Lynden Food Pavilion Farmer's Market has one of the best beverage selections in the County, both of the "for everybody" and "21 and over" variety.
And for the record, we have never had a "kopstoop", which is a shot glass of the Dutch liquor Jenever, which is sort of a gin, with a mug of beer.
We did however once syphon diesel with our mouth to get a refrigerated trailer running, and we're thinking the flavor profile may be the same

+ PRO-TIP: Used the ol' "stuck like a broken record" analogy a few days ago and we got a blank stare back, so we went with "stuck like a podcast that didn't download" and that seemed to help

Enjoy your weekend, have some fun around town, and even a wee bit more than the outdoor pool at the The Lynden/Bellingham KOA Campground on a hot weekend, YOU are loved!

TIME TO BREAK OUT THE SUMMER BROEKS!
The forecast seems to be holding for much warmer weather come the weekend, to the point the back of knees are likely to be sweating like a Dutchman watching pennies be tossed in a wishing well. Grocery Outlet has the soda, juice and water one needs to stay hydrated, and if you're heading out to get some ocean breezes from our friends at the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce, stop by Delta Country Market for a wonderful selection of ice cream bars and other frozen delectables that'll keep the body cool

+ For the record, we're the upper 70's, low 80's with a slight breeze types. Upper 80's and above, we tend to migrate towards cold iced drinks, sweat running into our eyes, and hearing the voice of Miss Rose in our head telling us months ago about LSM Heating, Plumbing, Electric - formerly Lynden Sheet Metal air conditioning installation

+ Overflow Taps, growler for at home or a pint or two on the patio. You make the call in downtown Lynden, conveniently located next to The Inn at Lynden , your boutique Lynden lodging experience!

+ We get above the 90's by much and we're just a constant stream of whining weather complaints, and at 100? We get very creative with our "Hotter then a..."

+ Cheeks got the cute summer wear in, with the red, white and blue trimmings that make for a stylish and comfortable look when the heat is on

+ Some of us will be needing to break out the SPF Hundy, as sunshine on the flesh has been lacking. If we recall correctly, check for sunscreen at Safeway, in those seasonal rows by the in-store Starbucks, though they keep changing up where what is located.
Except for the doughnuts (donuts?) are located. That always stays the same.
Priorities, baby!

+ For those who like the lagers and ales, and other hop-style juice, make a visit to the Northwood Market Beverage Cave. Great selection, great prices, and ice flippin' cold!

+ Best to check the pellet supply for the pellet grill, as indoor cooking may want to be avoided when the hot heat arrives. We suggest checking out the pellet selection at Fullner Food Service Contracting LLC. While it is correct that Mark, Johann and the crew are best known for supplying the quality equipment used by most of high-quality restaurants around Whatcom County, you can walk into their store at 309 Walnut Street and not only pick out pellets, but also get a wide range of quality kitchen utensils, glassware, flatware, cookware and the other wares to one needs for summer cooking, baking and eating.
And check out the BBQ seasonings while you're in there, great stuff!

That's enough for today, water the baskets and add a boost of fertilizer now rather than later, and even more than that cool blue skin stuff for sunburns come Monday, YOU are loved!
