Take some time to read the entire article. There is a lot of great information on why the Veterans of Foreign Wars is opposed to Section 108. Ryan Gallucci, Executive Director of the Washington DC Office, does an excellent job explaining this.

The fight is about sleep apnea and tinnitus. The VFW says what happens next could affect VA disability benefits far beyond both.

09/02/2026

Protecting veterans who already have ratings does not solve the problem.

There will always be another veteran filing a first claim tomorrow, next year, or ten years from now.

A system that protects only those who got there first is not good enough.

Take action and tell Congress to oppose any version of TCAVA that cuts veterans’ earned benefits: https://www.votervoice.net/VFW/Campaigns/138781/Respond

ATTENTION VFW MEMBERS, AUXILIARY MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS

The VFW stood up when Congress tried to use future veterans’ disability compensation to finance TCAVA.

NOW THE VFW NEEDS ITS MEMBERS TO STAND UP AGAIN.

TAKE 30 SECONDS. CREATE AND SEND ALL FOUR CONGRESSIONAL EMAILS:

https://54kveterans.org/tcava-table

The VFW did not abandon Major Star Act veterans. It made clear that the Major Star Act must pass clean—and that future disabled veterans must not be forced to pay for it.

VFW members have already sent more than 60,000 messages to Congress. That pressure helped stop TCAVA from moving forward unchanged. Congress needs to hear from the VFW community again.

VFW, DAV and IAVA are being left out of TCAVA meetings. Congress cannot fill a room with bill supporters and call it veteran consensus.

Koch-network advocacy groups do not replace the VFW. Political coalitions do not speak for VFW members. No TCAVA meeting should occur without VFW, DAV and IAVA receiving equal notice, access, materials and time.

The four identical emails demand:

• Include VFW, DAV and IAVA in every TCAVA meeting and negotiation.

• Replace TCAVA Section 101 with the full Major Star Act text in H.R. 2102 and S. 1032.

• Remove the Section 104(b) VA home-loan fee increases.

• Remove Section 108’s tinnitus and sleep-apnea rating changes.

BACK THE VFW’S POSITION. SEND ALL FOUR EMAILS NOW:

https://54kveterans.org/tcava-table

This action also supports the rank-and-file Legionnaires challenging American Legion National’s endorsement during their convention. Veterans must be allowed to speak for themselves.

DO NOT JUST LIKE THIS POST. OPEN THE FORM, SEND ALL FOUR EMAILS AND SHARE IT WITH YOUR POST, DISTRICT, DEPARTMENT AND EVERY VETERAN WHO REFUSES TO LET CONGRESS SILENCE THE VFW:

🇺🇸 Holding the Line for Veterans. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.

The VFW has always stood on the front lines—not only in defense of our nation, but in defense of the veterans who served it.

As Congress continues to consider the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act, the VFW continues to carefully review the legislation, advocate for veterans, and work to ensure that the benefits earned and promised through military service are protected. We remain committed to speaking up for veterans today while safeguarding the benefits and opportunities that future generations of service members will depend on.

Our mission doesn’t end when the uniform comes off. It continues in legislative halls, communities, and every place where veterans’ voices need to be heard.

But this fight cannot be carried by a few—it takes all of us.

If you are an eligible veteran, now is the time to stand with those who are standing for you. By joining the VFW, you strengthen our voice, expand our influence, and help protect the benefits and programs that generations of veterans have earned through sacrifice.

Together, we can continue Holding the Line—for those who served before us, those serving today, and those who will answer the call tomorrow.

Join the VFW. Stand with us. Fight for veterans.

“Congress should Honor the Contract and strengthen veterans' programs without creating new costs for those who sacrifice in service to our country. A grateful nation pays its debts to veterans; it does not send them the invoice.” - VFW National Commander Carol Whitmore

Take action TODAY and tell Congress to REMOVE the disability compensation offset provisions from the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act and find a funding solution that does NOT come at the expense of veterans and their families.
