One of the topics raised at our recent Annual Meeting was the proposed development at 490 East Lake Road, above Archibald Cove, and the potential impact of stormwater runoff and sedimentation on our lakes and surrounding properties.

As everyone who attended heard throughout the morning, protecting our lakes increasingly requires us to think about what happens throughout the entire watershed, particularly as we continue to experience more significant storm events.

A stormwater construction permit for this project is currently under review by the State of Vermont, and the public comment period closes September 2.

The LRA shares the concerns that have been raised about potential runoff and downstream impacts and believes it is important that our members are aware of the opportunity to participate in the State’s review process.

We encourage you to review the project and any additional information you feel necessary to reach your own conclusion. If you have a point of view, we urge you to submit a public comment before September 2.
