The facts are undeniable.

Nobody prepares you for life after retirement. They urge you to reach retirement, to put in your time, to survive the grind. What they don't mention is that the strain, sleepless nights, traumatic experiences, things you've witnessed, and burdens you've shouldered which don't vanish into thin air the moment you hand in your badge. For many officers, the toughest fights aren't on the streets; they're battles fought years later - heart disease, high blood pressure, depression, PTSD, anxiety, isolation.

We've dedicated decades to caring for others, responding to calls, solving problems, and facing dangers head-on that most people flee from. It's time we prioritize our own well-being too. If you're still serving, make your health a priority now, not just in retirement. If you're retired, don't struggle alone. The badge may come off, but the job's impact remains.

We see and deal with things that are horrible and unimaginable. Turn to a fellow officer, a friend, a stranger, a family member or seek professional help. It’s ok not to be ok!
