Kezar Lake Watershed Association

Kezar Lake Watershed Association Our goal is to protect the Kezar Lake watershed both now and for future generations to come. Kezar is more than a lake.

It’s an interconnected watershed extending over 56 square miles. Our mission is to preserve, protect and maintain the ecological, scenic, and recreational resources of Kezar Lake and its watershed for the benefit and enjoyment of residents, summer residents, and visitors, now and in future generations. The Kezar Lake Watershed Association (KLWA) has been a leader in lake protection since 1969. We

work with local officials to protect water quality, promote safety and encourage responsible stewardship of the lake and its watershed. We maintain a comprehensive, scientifically-based water quality research and monitoring program. We encourage understanding of the lake and watershed resources through our annual meeting, public forums, workshops, and the distribution of educational publications.

This lovely lady was digging a hole for her eggs in our watershed last evening. Interesting algae on her back.

Is this your dock section? Found on the east shore just south of the North Lovell launch, a couple of docks down from the white Garcelon mansion. If so, please either let us know, or better yet, bring it home!

A sign that summer is on the way - very exciting activity at the marina this week. After snow Monday, and cold temps all week, we need to look ahead to Turf Ramsden at the helm of the KLWA Lake Patrol boat keeping us safe all summer.

This guy has figured out that Spring has sprung, but Mother Nature has been slow to keep up. Try to remember that every time it snows, even in April, the watershed is benefitting.

Thanks to naturalist Leigh Hayes, we know these are otter tracks and an otter den in an isolated bog in our watershed. The otters appeared to be enjoying themselves, with many sliding locations all around the bog.

Most visitors to Kezar Lake arrive via roadway - a house camera on the west side of Middle Bay caught this activity recently - showing there are many ways to get here from there.
