On April 16th 2018, I had to make one of the hardest decisions to put my 10year old Pitbull down. Just 3days shy of that anniversary, I had to make that decision once again for Vino, a 7yr old Great Dane.
Vino was surrendered to me at 10 months old for being aggressive, the day I picked him up it took me an hour and a half to befriend. Although he was a 10 month old puppy, he already weighed 95lbs and stood three feet tall on all fours. He lunged, barked and growled at me during the process. But as soon as I gained that trust, it was never broken. He was attached at my hip and would try to bite anyone that would try to get by me. He wouldn’t even let the other dogs come close in the yard. He would follow me from sliding door to sliding door just to watch me on the house. He didn’t like anyone really but me and my kids. And did an amazing job protecting the house.
Unfortunately after 7yrs, the sad reality hit, you were fine two weeks ago, then declined within days. Went from playing with the pack, to not being able to get up and walk like normal, watching you struggle and seeing you in pain, broke my heart, making the decision to put you to rest wasn’t easy but you are no longer suffering. The long drive to the vet, and fight to get you out of the car, and the last bite you left on my knuckle in the process. I cried as I walked you in through those doors, knowing I was leaving you there.
Thank you for the 7yrs of love, friendship and protection you gave me, you will be truly missed and always loved and remembered. Rest in Paradise big boy. 😩😇🥺💔😭🐾🐕
