This summer, Flora’s Village and Liberated Learning Community will be hosting a Youth Gardening Program at our West Athens Victory Garden! 🌱🐝💛

This program is rooted in Afro-Indigenous ancestral stewardship practices, and it will connect youth with sustainability, environmental justice, food sovereignty, creativity, and nature. Through hands-on gardening, earth-based learning, cultural education, arts activities, and community care practices, youth will have the opportunity to deepen their relationship with the land while learning practical life skills in a nurturing and empowering environment. Healthy lunches included🥕

A moment that took days, months, and years of communities across Los Angeles working together to fight for our park system.

Yesterday, City Council voted YES to move the DOUBLING of Rec and Parks charter allocation forward. This means the future of our city’s green spaces is one critical step closer to being in the hands of voters this November.

There’s still more work to be done, so stay with us while we work toward the finish line. But for now, we celebrate this incredible moment and thank each and every person who got us here❤️

The Full City Council vote is THIS Wednesday, June 17 at 10 AM at LA City Hall — and we need Angelenos in that room.

A last-minute amendment could allow the city to cut up to 30% of existing park funding. That means our current park services are just as at risk as our future ones.

Every neighborhood deserves parks that are safe, welcoming, clean, and fully staffed. Show up and make your voice heard.

THE MOMENT IS HERE. Tomorrow is our final chance to invest in the future of our city’s green spaces and protect the ones we already have. But we have to show up and make our voices heard. A packed room sends a powerful message to every Council member in that room.

Can’t make it tomorrow? ⤵️

1️⃣ CALL YOUR COUNCIL MEMBER TODAY📲
Visit FundLaParks.org and find contact info for your City Council member. Already contacted them? Call again ‼️ and urge them to support DOUBLING Rec and Parks budget allocation. Every call counts — they need to hear from you before Wednesday.

2️⃣ SHARE WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW 🔊
Our parks deserve FULL funding. Let’s make sure the City Council knows we’re watching, and we aren’t going anywhere.

Together, we can save our parks👇🌱💚

We are closer than ever to securing the funding our parks need and deserve. But we haven’t done it yet, and our collective advocacy this week will make all the difference.

This is the week that decides the future of parks in Los Angeles. Join us at City Hall, and if you can’t, take 5 minutes to call Council members and tell them to double the charter allocation. Call scripts and contact information are at the link in our bio🌱💚

Let’s get this over the finish line, together.

The 2026 Art and Wellness Festival captured through the lens of our amazing Garden Apprenticeship Program Photography interns, William and Perla 🌱🎨

This year, we served over 600 families, gathering together to make art, eat, and connect with community resources. GAP students shared information about their community and garden projects with their peers. Parents hosted activities for students and handed out delicious baked goodies. Families walked away with tote bags designed by Las Chicas Peligrosas and with boxes full of fresh produce🍊🧡

HUGE thank you to all our partners who brought this festival to life. If you would like to support our Festival efforts in the future, helping bring arts and free resources to the South Central community, please reach out 💛🌻

‼️EVERY CALL COUNTS TODAY. EVERY VOICE MATTERS TOMORROW‼️

Tomorrow. 12 PM. City Hall. Together, let’s tell our city leaders that funding must be protected in the Charter. This is not an ordinance subject to City Hall’s whims. We deserve to vote on this.

If you can’t join us, a phone call goes a long way.

SEE YOU TOMORROW ‼️🌳🛝

📆MARK YOUR CALENDARS for 12 PM THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 12TH‼️

A funding formula that has been unchanged for nearly a century means that 40% of dedicated funding NEVER REACHES our city’s parks and rec centers. They are being defunded from the inside. The good news? The chance to transform our parks system is happening right now.

Join us on Friday at Los Angeles City Hall and let’s tell the Committee every child, senior, family, and neighborhood deserves access to safe, clean, and fully staffed parks.
