Meet one of our crews from the West Valley site. Our River Rangers, a crew of Corpsmembers who generally do work around the LA River in partnership with the City of Los Angeles, are hard at work in the Sepulveda Basin, reducing fire fuel and beautifying the area in preparation for the LA 2028 Summer Olympics and other major events coming to the region. For months, Corpsmembers have been hard at work in the Sepulveda Basin, and their efforts continue today.

The work isn’t easy, but it makes a lasting impact by helping protect our community and the natural spaces we cherish. Thank you to our Corpsmembers and staff for your dedication and commitment, keep up the great work!

Last week, the LA Conservation Corps was honored by the LA City Council at Van Nuys City Hall in celebration of our 40th Anniversary.

The ceremony was led by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez and Councilmember Bob Blumenfield who delivered powerful remarks recognizing the impact of our crews in their districts over the past four decades.

Our CEO, Tamara Muzac-Bravo, Ph.D., spoke about the importance of our partnership with the City of Los Angeles and how it has enabled us to change lives while helping build a cleaner, greener city.

One of the most inspiring moments of the ceremony was seeing so many Councilmembers come together to recognize the Corps' impact in their communities. Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Councilmember Curren Price (District Office of Councilmember Curren D. Price Jr.), Councilmember John Lee, Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, Councilwoman Nithya Raman (Los Angeles City Council District 4), and Councilmember Imelda Padilla all shared words of appreciation in support of the Corps and the work our crews do across Los Angeles.

We cannot express enough how grateful we are for this recognition and for the continued partnership and support of the City Council.

Check out these awesome photos of our Compost Crew working at Griffith Park alongside L.A. Compost!

This East Valley crew travels to compost hubs across Los Angeles, transforming food waste into nutrient-rich soil for community gardens and local parks.

Composting helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by turning inedible food scraps into healthy soil. Last year, our crews processed 109,129 pounds of organic material into nutrient-rich compost, preventing an estimated 580 metric tons of CO₂ emissions—the equivalent of taking 138 cars off the road for an entire year.

In preparation for Memorial Day, one of our crews installed a plaque at the Cinco Puntos Memorial, formerly known as the Mexican American All Wars Monument in Boyle Heights, in collaboration with Councilmember Ysabel Jurado.

This installation came in response to recent vandalism at the memorial. The man pictured alongside our crew is a local resident and Vietnam veteran who has long advocated for the restoration of the memorial and joined our crew in celebrating this meaningful moment.

Notably, John Franco, our Technical Construction Coordinator, who helped install the plaque, is also a veteran. He retired from the Marine Corps after 30 years of service and served in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.

We are proud to have helped restore this historically significant memorial honoring the contributions and sacrifices of the city’s Chicano veterans.

Last week, our CEO, Tamara Muzac-Bravo, Ph.D., Deputy Director of Conservation Programs, Bo Savage, and Senior Program Director, Alex Lopez, traveled to Washington, D.C., to accept the 2026 Project of the Year Award from The Corps Network on behalf of the LA Conservation Corps. The award recognized the Watershed Recovery Efforts following the Palisades and Eaton Fires that the LA Corps carried out in alignment with partner corps and organizations.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to The Corps Network for welcoming us and recognizing the hard work of our staff and Corpsmembers in helping Los Angeles recover from the fires. While there is still more work to do, we remain committed to helping our communities heal.

📸Check out these photo highlights from our recent second annual career fair at The Ford.

80 Corpsmembers had the opportunity to connect with 20 employers from a wide range of industries. Our annual job fair at the Ford is a great opportunity for Corpsmembers to explore meaningful career paths by directly engaging with hiring professionals. For many Corpsmembers, this event marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their careers. A huge thank-you to the Ford Theatre for helping make this event possible, and to our Corpsmember Development Team (CMD) for organizing such a wonderful gathering.

We’re proud to offer our Corpsmembers so many incredible career pathway opportunities, and grateful to the employers in attendance for playing such a vital role in making that possible.

Thank you to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for recognizing our 40th anniversary.

Last week, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis honored the LA Conservation Corps at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration in Downtown LA in celebration of our 40th Anniversary. The Supervisor presented a hand-painted scroll to the Corps’ CEO, Tamara Muzac-Bravo, as staff, board members and Corpsmember representatives gathered in support.

The Corps has a long history of making a meaningful impact in Supervisor Solis’ district and across Los Angeles County including building trails, improving parks, cleaning streets, and repairing sidewalks. We are grateful for our partnership with Supervisor Solis and the entire LA County Board of Supervisors and look forward to continuing our work to help keep the County beautiful while ensuring young people have access to quality jobs.
