A huge thank you to ARC for creating such a meaningful experience on the American River. đŸ€

Opportunities like this give our youth and mentors the chance to connect beyond the structured environments they’re accustomed to. Stepping into a new space—surrounded by nature, adventure, and community—allows everyone to relax, be present, and build relationships in a more genuine way.

Mentorship is about more than the time spent together in programs. It’s about trust, shared experiences, laughter, conversation, and creating moments where young people can simply be themselves.

We’re grateful to ARC for bringing everyone together and reminding us just how powerful connection can be when we create the space for it. 🌊

Yesterday, we hosted our very first MĂĄs Que FĂștbol restorative justice soccer game. âšœđŸ€

More than a game, MĂĄs Que FĂștbol brought our community together to build relationships, strengthen trust, and experience the values of restorative justice through teamwork, connection, and joy.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped make this inaugural event such a meaningful success. We can’t wait to see this tradition continue to grow.

Many of the families who have been impacted by the criminal justice system—often for generations—come from the same communities, neighborhoods, and even the same families. Sometimes people enter the system because they have been harmed, and at other times, those same individuals, families, and communities encounter the system because someone has caused harm. The lines between those who have been harmed and those who have caused harm are often more connected than we recognize. If we understand that they are part of the same families and communities, wouldn’t it make sense for all of us working within the system to work together—across roles, agencies, and perspectives—to build a more effective system that promotes accountability, healing, safety, and well-being for everyone impacted by harm? .

Centering lived experience to shape meaningful change.

HDA’s Secure Youth Treatment Facility (SYTF) Listening Session brought together government partners and community stakeholders to hear directly from those most impacted by the system.

A victim-survivor impacted by the SYTF system, a mother whose child is currently incarcerated, and a formerly incarcerated youth shared their lived experiences, offering honest insight into the challenges, impacts, and opportunities for change within the system.

By creating space for these voices to be heard, we move one step closer to building more responsive, healing-centered, and restorative systems. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this important conversation.

One of our Credible Messengers, John, had the opportunity to accompany a group of our young men on a transformative trip to New York. During the visit, they met with the team behind Columbia University’s Beyond the Bars Conference, where our youth were invited to present next year—an incredible opportunity to share their stories and inspire change.

The group also visited Fordham University, where they learned about higher education, the admissions process, and the many opportunities available to them. Experiences like these remind our young people that their past does not define their future and that new possibilities are always within reach.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this life-changing experience possible for our youth and allowed one of HDA’s Credible Messengers to walk alongside them on this journey. The relationships our Credible Messengers build every day extend far beyond mentorship—they create moments of hope, connection, and possibility that can last a lifetime.

At Healing Dialogue and Action (HDA), we believe that every person deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and supported. Through restorative practices, victim-survivor support, youth development, reentry services, and community connection, we create spaces where healing, accountability, and hope can take root.

The journey from harm to healing is not one anyone should have to walk alone. Together, we can build stronger individuals, stronger families, and stronger communities.

On Sunday, we gathered in community to honor and hold space for mothers, families, and victim-survivors impacted by violence.

This Mother’s Day gathering created space for remembrance, reflection, healing, and connection. Together, we recognized the love that continues beyond loss and the importance of community care in the healing journey. đŸ€

To every mother, family member, advocate, and community partner who joined us — thank you for sharing your presence, your stories, and your support. Your strength and compassion continue to remind us that healing happens in community.

At Healing Dialogue and Action, we remain committed to creating trauma-informed spaces where victim-survivors and families are met with dignity, compassion, and care.

No one should have to navigate grief and loss alone. đŸ•Šïž

In honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, we reflect on this year’s theme: “Listen. Act. Advocate. Protect victims, serve communities.”

We listened as survivors shared the stories of their loved ones with our youth at Oasis House.

Now, we act—by uplifting their voices, advocating for their rights, and building spaces where healing is possible.

Supporting survivors isn’t optional—it’s our responsibility.
