July 1993 was when my family moved to Atwater from Alhambra. Interim Pastor Gene Paden was a member of the Alhambra First Baptist Church where we attended and he encouraged us to move our membership to the Atwater Park Baptist Church, which we did. Our children made their professions of faith in this church. We’ve been through transitions in leadership behind the pulpit and around the Deacon Board Meeting Room. We have served in different capacities through difficult and trying times. Our constant has been Christ. Psalm 62:2 “He alone is my Rock and my Salvation, my Fortress, I shall not be greatly shaken”. Let us Praise and Honor Him in words and deeds. He has provided for us all this time, yes even the very faith that we exercise comes from Him. Today, we are faced with a seemingly insurmountable challenge, a microscopic specimen of disease and destruction of the body, the psyche, the socio-economic and political structure of nations. The church’ reasonable response to this challenge is specified by God in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land”. More than ever we need to 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray without ceasing”. If you are seeking His face and do not belong to a community of believers, come to our Zoom meetings and let us worship and pray together!
