Last week we joined with Party for Socialism and Liberation - Los Angeles for a screening of documentary film, "The Gospel of Liberation," which followed different manifestations of liberation theology from Latin American social movements and revolutions from the 70s-90s.

After the screening, we were joined by Pastor Yoshi Kuramoto, Rabbi Robin Podolsky, Rev. Dr. Najuma Smith and Dr. Samiha Rahman for a panel discussion on Liberation Theology from multiple faith traditions and history. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this inspiring evening and for San Pedro UMC for hosting.

Women of faith have been gathering in Orange County and Los Angeles to pray for the return of family members who have been detained or deported. We invite people of all genders to accompany them and hold our disappeared community members in prayer. We are hurting along with them, and we have their backs.

Next weekโ€™s Los Angeles vigil will take place on Tuesday, 8/25 and every Tuesday from 12pm-1pm. It will be followed by a walk to the Federal Courthouse for an action at 1pm.

The next Orange County vigil will take place on Thursday, 9/3 and every other Thursday from 12pm-12:45pm.

Every Tuesday afternoon, Rosa joins a growing community outside the Downtown Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center center to pray, sing, and stand in solidarity with families separated by immigration enforcement.

As one of the visionaries behind the Godmothers of the Disappeared, Rosa helped inspire a weekly vigil that has become a place of comfort, accompaniment, and hope.

Read Rosa's full story to learn how a lifetime of faith, family history, and community led to a group who continues to show up week after week for immigrant families across Los Angeles.
