BREAKING: VETTING FAILURE! ICE whistleblower says the agency handed guns and badges to recruits before basic checks were complete — and people are now dead because of it.

"We chose as an agency to be more convenient rather than thorough," the whistleblower said. "By doing so, there was a potential to put lives at risk and to jeopardize national security."

This isn't hypothetical. This is the exact hiring pipeline that put David Brouillette on the streets as an armed ICE agent — the man who shot and killed Joan Sebastian Guerrero in front of Guerrero's 3-year-old daughter in Biddeford, Maine.

Brouillette's own two ex-wives had previously accused him of domestic abuse and troubling mental health issues. A relative said he was struggling with PTSD from military combat deployment in Afghanistan. He had even been REJECTED by a local police department in 2024 for having "too many red flags." ICE hired him anyway.

Former ICE lawyer Ryan Schwank testified to Congress in February that the training program had become "deficient, defective and broken," warning specifically about the risk of hiring "somebody who was just mentally unfit for the role" — and worse, the possibility of organized crime infiltrating the agency entirely.

ICE's official response was a defensive shrug, insisting its vetting "diligently" follows proper regulations and touting itself as "one of the most elite law enforcement agencies... in the entire world." That claim is getting harder to take seriously with each new investigation.

This is what mass deportation enforcement built on speed over safety actually looks like: unqualified, unvetted, potentially dangerous individuals armed and deployed against American communities, with predictably tragic consequences. Joan Sebastian Guerrero's daughter will grow up without her father because this administration prioritized quotas over basic competence.

The United States somehow managed to get along just fine before ICE was established as an agency less than 25 years ago. It’s time to completely dismantle this hopelessly compromised institution and replace it with an immigration system that eschews brutality in favor of justice.

Libby Klinner buried her husband. Then the government told her that because Congress never formally declared war, some of the benefits owed to her and her three young children weren't coming.

Major Alex Klinner, chief of squadron standardizations and evaluations at the 99th Air Refueling Squadron in Birmingham, was one of six service members killed March 12 when their KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed over friendly territory in western Iraq while supporting operations against Iran. He left behind a 2 and a half year old son and 7 month old twins.

Marking six months since his death, Libby posted on Instagram: "Six months of a war we can't call a war... The Air Force recently told me that because we haven't officially declared war, my kids and I aren't eligible for some benefits. So not only was my husband killed in a war he never wanted to participate in, but now the benefits we're left with are being dictated by semantics and public perception."

She specified the gap involved combat pay related benefits, including hostile fire and imminent danger pay and combat zone exclusions, benefits tied specifically to the legal designation of a war that officially isn't one.

Her going public worked. Within a day, the Air Force's director of mortuary affairs reached out to her directly, and the branch has now initiated an audit to ensure her family receives everything they're entitled to. An Air Force spokesperson said officials "spoke with Libby Klinner today to ensure she is receiving all eligible benefits she and her family are entitled to," adding, "we remain committed to providing clear information and continued support to Mrs. Klinner, as well as all the families of the Airmen who died in the KC-135 crash."

She's also had to defend simply speaking at all. "To the comments asking why my husband joined the military if he didn't want to be in a war: No one joins the military because they want to go to war," she wrote. "To those commenting that I'm posting this for attention: I suggest that you reserve judgment about what I'm doing until you've had to bury your spouse."

A widow raising three kids under three had to go public just to get the government to check whether her family was owed what they'd already earned. It shouldn't take a viral post to make that happen.

BREAKING🚨 A stay-at-home mom in Texas built a website that helped force a $200 billion bank to drop two ICE detention contractors. DHS put it in a secret bulletin about "anarchist extremists."

Organizers in Boston found her site and built the De-ICE Citizens Bank Coalition.

Traffic jumped from a few thousand visits to nearly 10 million after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good in Minneapolis on January 7.

By June there were 140 protests across 17 states. They bought billboards, showed up at the bank's annual meeting, and hired a pilot to fly a banner over Citizens Bank Park during the All-Star Game.

Jersey City pulled $265 million. Montclair voted to pull $90 million more. Three days later, Citizens announced it was cutting off both contractors, calling it "a business decision based on changed commercial circumstances."

In February, DHS sent law enforcement a bulletin naming her website as information that could be used by "anarchist extremists." The bulletin concedes, in red letters, that "some of this information describes First Amendment-protected activities."

"At first, my stomach dropped," Berlin said. "But then I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it."

DHS did not address the bulletin, saying only that information from local partners "helps sharpen the national threat picture."

Government officials are not merely disputing reporting; they are building machinery to delegitimize the press itself.

This is how authoritarianism advances: normalize cruelty, protect the powerful, punish scrutiny, and tell the public that anyone documenting it is the enemy.

A survivor deserves justice—not bureaucratic dismissal. Journalists deserve independence—not political retaliation. And the public deserves the truth, especially when those in power most want it buried.

Wake up. Silence is not neutrality when the institutions meant to protect people are being used to protect those at the top.
