⭐️ New Workshop: Upscaling healthcare Workers 💉

The Miguel Contreras Foundation had the privilege of supporting 17 UFCW Local 770 participants who completed a Pharmacy Technician upskilling training! 🎓💉

To support them along their journey, MCF provided stipends and scrubs to help ensure participants had the resources they needed as they continued advancing their careers in healthcare.

We are incredibly thankful for our healthcare workers and proud to support workers investing in their skills, their careers, and their futures. 🩺✨

A huge thank you to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation for inviting the Miguel Contreras Foundation to the CNHF OY Workforce Grantee Learning Convening!

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside fellow grantees, exchange ideas, and connect with incredible organizations doing meaningful work in workforce development and their communities.

We were especially excited to have Mark De Leon, one of our Know Your Rights Ambassadors and a young leader from MCLC, and passionate advocate for the Garment Worker Center, join us for the convening. Mark had the opportunity to meet and learn from leaders across different organizations, build new connections, and experience firsthand the power of bringing community leaders together.
We left inspired, energized, and grateful for the new connections and lessons we’ll bring back to our work at MCF. 🌱

🎤✨ Introducing Student Voices | La Voz de la Juventud ✨🎤

A new MCF series dedicated to uplifting the voices, creativity, and perspectives of young people in our community. Through this series, we’re giving students a platform to express themselves and share their vision for the future of LA. 🌱

This past March, MCF invited students from the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex to create original artwork showing what it means for Los Angeles to bloom—a city growing stronger through community, resilience, and unity. 🌆

Today, we’re proud to highlight an incredible submission from Asmita, who shared her vision of what a blooming Los Angeles looks like through her beautiful art and description. 🌸

🎓✨ Congratulations to our MCLC Know Your Rights Youth Ambassadors! ✨🎓

On August 4, our students celebrated the completion of the Know Your Rights Program by presenting their final Capstone Projects to a panel of community and labor leaders, including representatives from the Mayor’s Office, MCF board members, labor leaders, and MCLC school leadership.

Since beginning the program in February 2026, these students have grown tremendously in their knowledge, confidence, leadership, and ability to advocate for themselves and their communities. We are incredibly proud of their presentations, their hard work, and how far they have come! 💪🌱

These young leaders are not only learning about their rights—they are using their voices, sharing their ideas, and helping shape a better future for Los Angeles. 🌟

Thank you to the Mayors Office, all of their coaches, PLUS ME Project , and Miguel Contreras Learning Complex for making this happen.
