LA's BEST Expanded Learning

LA's BEST is an Expanded learning, enrichment and recreation program serving 17,000 children We inspire and prepare children to create lives full of choices.

LA’s BEST Expanded Learning Program plays a vital role in the lives of more than 17,000 unique and talented elementary school students who come from neighborhoods with the fewest resources and the greatest needs. Every school day, from the time the school bell rings until 6pm, each LA’s BEST student receives a nutritious meal, help with their homework and the opportunity to participate in a wide a

rray of enrichment activities. LA’s BEST engages children creatively, emotionally, intellectually and physically, empowering them to explore and discover the opportunities in their lives.

Summer is Better with LA's BEST

LA's BEST Summer Learning is open June 15–July 24 at participating school sites across Los Angeles. Students enjoy hands-on activities, arts, sports, STEM, field trips, outdoor play, and opportunities to build new skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Whether you're returning for another summer or joining us for the first time, we can't wait to spend the summer with you.

Our students were at the heart of the morning during our 2026 Family Brunch: Imagine What's Possible. Through interactive booths, guests experienced the enrichment activities students participate in at LA’s BEST each day. During the program, students showcased their language arts work by sharing original stories. Dance and guitar performances filled the room with energy, creativity, and pride, bringing LA’s BEST to life.

We also had the privilege of honoring individuals and partners who embody the spirit of LA’s BEST. We celebrated Spectrum, represented by Peter Hidalgo, with this year’s Corporate Partner Award; recognized alumnus Erick Ponce-Furlos, whose journey reflects what is possible when young people have access to meaningful opportunities and support; and honored Miguel A. Santana with the June Sale Community Impact Award.

In his remarks, Miguel reminded us that “in moments of uncertainty, children need places where they are welcomed, valued, and loved. For decades, LA’s BEST has been that place.”

Summer enrollment is OPEN!

LA’s BEST summer programs are bringing hands-on learning, enrichment, movement, creativity, and joyful
experiences to students across Los Angeles.

Programs include opportunities for:
• Arts and enrichment
• STEM and hands-on learning
• Sports and recreation
• Safe and supportive environments for students and families

Students may attend any participating LA’s BEST summer site regardless of summer school enrollment status.
Summer programming runs from June 15 through July 24, with no program on June 19 or July 4.

This year, nearly 300 LA’s BEST students took part in our College Bound Adventures program, diving into future career pathways and discovering what higher education has to offer. The highlight of the program was a series of five exciting field trips to local college campuses across Los Angeles!

This initiative was made possible in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and the Student to Student Success (S2S) program, where student workers from nearby high schools helped lead programming and support culminating college visits.

A huge thank you to Santa Monica College and the Mayor’s Office for helping us create meaningful, hands-on college experiences for students across Los Angeles.

This summer, LA’s BEST is bringing hands-on learning, games, friendships, and safe, joyful experiences to students across Los Angeles.

Students may attend any participating LA’s BEST summer site, regardless of whether they are enrolled in summer school at that school. The LA’s BEST summer program will run Monday through Friday from June 15 through July 24, with no program on June 19 or July 3.
