This foundation laid the groundwork for her subsequent roles, providing legal counsel to the local church and the First Jurisdiction of Southern California COGIC, actively participating on boards such as the Women's Department COGIC, and First Jurisdiction Executive Board. As a board member for the Hale, Morris, Lewis Manor, a Senior Housing Program, she extended her impact into community initiatives.

Judge Mablean Ephriam's illustrious legal journey commenced as a Federal Correctional Officer before transitioning to a role as a legal secretary for an all-black male law firm. Following this, she served as a law clerk in the office of the Los Angeles City Attorney, ultimately becoming a prosecuting attorney with the City Attorney of Los Angeles after graduating from law school in 1978.
