Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority runs the buses and trains that connect LA, but the transit riders’ perspective has been missing from the agency’s decisions. Metro voted to recommend state law changes that would require at least 1 rider and eventually 2 riders to vote on Metro’s Board of Directors. Stay tuned for more to come!

On this year’s 2026 Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority state of the agency, we uplift the 5+ years of progress toward reshaping a Metro that serves all transit riders in LA with dignity and care. We thank outgoing chair Fernando Fernando Dutra for his support of our work and look forward to continuing the work with Stephanie Wiggins and Mayor Karen Bass Karen Bass to create a Metro that’s safe, reliable, and affordable for all!

Fifteen years ago, ACT-LA took root. What began as neighborhood organizations fighting displacement block by block has grown into a coalition of 50 organizations. We are now a force that changes how Los Angeles invests in its people.

⚽🌎 The World Cup is here. As the world watches Los Angeles, let’s show what a city that invests in people looks like.

We need more buses, longer service hours, and well-maintained bus stops—not more surveillance.

Real safety isn’t more cameras or policing. It’s knowing your bus will come, getting home safely after a late shift, and having a transit system that works for everyone.

🚌 More transit. Not more surveillance.

The World Cup shouldn’t mean more harassment for the people who keep LA moving.

Every day, transit riders and workers face profiling, over-policing, and punitive fare enforcement that disproportionately harms Black, Brown, immigrant, low-income, and unhoused communities.

As LA welcomes the world, we need investments that make people safer, not policies that criminalize poverty.

🚍 Protect riders from harassment and discriminatory enforcement
✊ Protect workers who operate, clean, maintain, and support our transit system
💙 Invest in care, service, and dignity, not surveillance and policing

As Los Angeles prepares to host the world’s biggest sporting events, one thing is clear: ICE is not part of the welcome.

The workers who keep this city running, the street vendors serving our communities, the transit riders getting to and from work, and the families who live around our stadiums deserve to feel safe—not fear being stopped, detained, or separated from their loved ones.

No one should have to worry about making it home because ICE agents are operating near transit, workplaces, or mega-events. That’s not hospitality. That’s not safety. And it’s not the Los Angeles we believe in.

As kick-off approaches at SoFi Stadium, we stand with immigrant communities and demand dignity, safety, and freedom of movement for all.

📢 NO ICE! NO RAIDS ON OUR RIDES!

The world is coming to Los Angeles. Let’s show them a city that protects its people—not one that terrorizes them.
