Over the weekend, TTR was invited to be part of Camp del Corazon’s + P.A.C.E Wellness Retreat. A group of our show team members and staff took chickens, pigs, tortoises, and minis to visit with the attendees. Thank you for letting us join your impactful weekend! .cdc

Congresswoman Laura Friedman paid recent a visit to Taking the Reins to tour our barn and lend her support to our equestrian and nature education programs. As an equestrian herself and an avid environmentalist, Representative Friedman appreciated our access to the LA River and the trails in Griffith Park, thanks to the LaKretz Bridge. Thank you to our Board members Margaret Black (pictured) and Stephanie Drachkovitch and the TTR staff for sharing your passion for the mission of Taking the Reins with our Congresswoman.

Our students learn by doing here at TTR!
🫛 Harvested the favas we planted to rejuvenate the soil in some of our beds! We enjoyed them fresh peeled with sea salt!
🎨 Made chlorophyll art by pressing a big giant juicy green leaf (Sunflower 🌻or Kale🥬 ) between a folded piece of watercolor paper. You fold paper in half around the leaf and then rub over top with the back of a spoon to press the chlorophyll out and that becomes the ink or paint that stamps evenly on both sides of the fold.
🍃 Talked about photosynthesis and why chlorophyll is so important!!
