National SAL Commander Bill Clancy helped to plant a large Island Oak at the Palisades High School Stadium. This was sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion and the Pali Forestry Committee to contribute to the rebuilding of the Palisades as well as to help with the Commander's goal of planting 250 trees across America to commemorate the USA's 250th year.

National Commander Bill Clancy addresses the Squadron members at last night's special visit and dinner. In addition, the Squadron continued its Living History night tradition of a veteran speaker. Last night we had Post 283 member Chris Wilson, USMC who spoke of his service during the Cuban Missile Crisis and in Vietnam in the 1960s.

It is with great sadness that we report that Squadron 283 member Jere Romano has passed. Jere's work to re-invigorate Post 283 and firmly establish an active Legion Family at the Post, all working in unison, will be his legacy.

Jere served at the District, Area and Department, but we will always remember his supporting the Sons, as he is in this photo: Showing up at dawn for the Squadron's Memorial Day reading at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.
