Our goal is to rescue Bichons, Bichon mixes and other small dogs from high-kill shelters and to take in dogs from people who can no longer live with their original guardian or guardians. We believe that eac

h life is meaningful and that all deserve to live out their lives as loving companions in forever homes. Our motto, “Making a Difference in a Dog’s Life” reflects our commitment to assisting healthy, adoptable Bichons and their buddies find loving guardians who can care for and protect them as long as they live. Bichons and Buddies believes that our animal companions deserve to be cherished, cared for and protected. We value the loving contribution they make to our lives and are dedicated to assisting these loyal companions in finding permanent homes – and a second chance at life. We are strongly committed to making a difference in the lives of Bichon Frises, Bichon mixes and the buddies with whom they play. Our volunteers reflect this sincere desire through their willingness to foster, transport and assist in the effort to rescue and re-home daily. As part of our mission, we educate the community regarding the necessity to eradicate puppy mills, the importance of spaying and neutering pets and how to be responsible pet guardians. Meet Gizmo, the 3-month old Bichon Pup!

This adorable fur ball was found on a street in Compton! He narrowly missed getting run over by a car but luckily a Good Samaritan jumped out of her car and was able to grab him. He's only about 3 months old and all puppy. Gizmo has been doing great with housebreaking but certainly needs continued work. He's also teething right now but he's super smart. The minute you give him a toy to chew on he goes for it. He absolutely loves toys and chew bones and will take several from the toy box during the day and have them spread out everywhere so he can have a variety. He's super friendly with everyone and loves other dogs. Bichons and Buddies will be taking care of all shots necessary, microchip and neutering when he's ready.
PLEASE....I know puppies are adorable and tempting to have, but consider this: Are you ready to have a baby? For those who have had children and can think back to your newborn, it's very similar in terms of attention required and training. Our target home for him is someone with a house, not an apartment, and works from home. This is not a dog that will thrive in a house where someone works outside the home. Maisey Needs a Forever Home!
Maisey is a darling Maltipoo who is about 2 years old. We got her out of the Riverside shelter where she was taken after being confiscated from a m**h house. She's had a rough start in life and sustained a terrible burn on her shoulder that healed but left her with a small hairless patch. When we got Maisey she was so loving and affectionate and playful. It was amazing to see how resilient dogs can be! After about a week we noticed some unusual behavior in which she would suddenly chase her tail. It would only last a couple of seconds but we decided to take her to a neurologist. The vet feels it might have been some drug that Maisey was given that caused this strange behavior. Maisey was put on some medication that has reduced the frequency which is now only a couple times a day. She's just as energetic as she was and just as playful. Maisy is very friendly with everyone she meets. She gets along with other dogs but may be a bit rambunctious with older ones or shy ones. She loves toys and can be self-entertaining. Maisey has no separation anxiety and often chooses to sleep in another room after spending some time in bed with her foster. Maisey is great on a leash and trots along at a brisk clip. She gets very drooly when in a car so she's not the dog you want to take on long trips. Maisey would do best in an adult-only home. She is spayed, has all her shots and is microchipped. UPDATE! Sophie not only found a foster BUT she also found her forever home!!!
Thank you to everyone who responded!

Sophie, a gorgeous 10 month old Multipoo, is looking for a foster home to keep her out of boarding. That's no place for a puppy!!! She's sweet as can be and a goofy girl who has the typical puppy energy. We can't continue to save dogs like Sophie without fosters. She'll be adopted in a flash (maybe by you?) so it's not a long-term commitment. She's good with other dogs and loves everyone she meets. PLEASE!!!! Sophie needs you. Look at that Face!
Pixie is begging for a home of her own. She certainly is deserving of one after being dumped by an irresponsible owner at a high-kill shelter in such deplorable condition she had to be shaved down to the bone.
Pixie is a little Havanese/Maltese mix who's about 5 years old and weighs 14 pounds. When her hair grows out her coat will be stunning with that adorable gray patch over one side of her face. When we got Pixie she was very submissive and nervous but still craved attention. She would roll over on her belly asking for a pet. She loves being next to you or on your lap and follows you wherever you go. She has gotten more comfortable about being held and now nuzzles her head into your neck. Pixie is blossoming into a more confident little girl every day. She bonds quickly and would thrive in a quiet household with someone who is home a lot. She is fostered right now with other dogs, and while she is not aggressive, she would prefer to be the queen of the house. Pixie is good on a leash and is a quiet girl. She'll continue to blossom into a devoted, adoring companion with lots of love and nurturing. Pixie is spayed, microchipped, and has all vaccines AND a dental. WHO IS WILLING TO FOSTER THIS POM IN THE NAME OF INDEPENDENCE DAY?
He's only 4 years old and his life is on the line at Lancaster Shelter where they have already been putting down a ton of dogs this week as the most dreaded holiday of the year for dogs kicks off with a literal BANG. We provide everything needed and this cutie won't take long to place. Congrats to Archie!
This special little guy (on your right) got a fabulous home with previous adopters of ours and he now has a buddy he instantly fell in love with! It's a match made in heaven!

Archie is an adorable little Poodle/Shih Tzu mix who is 4 years old and weighs 12 pounds. This amazing guy has a stellar personality and he was like that from the moment we got him out of the shelter. Archie is friendly with everyone he meets and is great with other dogs. He pulls a little on a leash but he's super smart and eager to please so training will be snap. He's very affectionate and loves to be held and will put his little head on your shoulder which will melt your heart. He's a quiet guy and has a calm, zen-like temperament. Archie is good with kids and will make a great dog for a family or anyone looking for a loving companion. He's neutered, has all shots, is microchipped and has been groomed. THE PERFECT HOME FOR THE PERFECT DOG!

Jasper not only has a four-legged buddy to play with but also a two-legged little friend. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect home for this special guy.
He will always be one of my most memorable saves. We saved him the day before he was scheduled to go down and he turned out to be a perfect dog in every way.

JASPER IS A JEWEL!

Jasper is a handsome Wheaton Terrier who is about 1 1/2 years old and weighs 28 pounds. This amazing guy has an absolutely stellar temperament. He came in as a stray from the Lancaster shelter in a matted, filthy condition (check out that before pic!) and he quickly ran out of time due to overcrowding. The staff and other rescue groups advocated for him in an effort to get an extension of his euthanasia date. We got him out at the 11th hour. It was mind-boggling to realize such a perfect, loving dog could have lost his life. From the moment we got him he was gregarious and playful and exuded joyfulness. He loves getting the zoomies around the yard and is great with other dogs. He's also gentle and patient with kids. Jasper loves belly rubs and cuddling next to on the couch. He's friendly with everyone he meets including other passing dogs while on a walk. This guy is an absolute dreamboat and was housebroken from the start. Jasper is what we call a plug-and-play dog. He'll fit seamlessly into any active home and preferably one with another playful dog or kids and a yard. For more pics and a cute video please take a look at our website bichonsandbuddies.com.
