TWEET STORM TODAY — 9 AM PACIFIC 🚨

We need EVERYONE speaking out to help preserve Prop 12 and stop the dangerous “Save Our Bacon Act.” This federal proposal threatens hard-won animal welfare protections and could wipe out state laws voters already approved to reduce extreme confinement for farm animals.

At 9 AM Pacific, flood X/Twitter with posts, replies, and comments to senators and lawmakers. Be respectful but firm. Let them know voters do NOT want protections for animals rolled back.

Something so exciting happened I was interviewed by the LA Daily Times!
And yes, when they first reached out, I absolutely wondered if the message was meant for someone else. Wrong Nickie? Wrong number? Turns out… no.

This is my tenth year in Los Angeles. I was born in Chicago and have lived in many places, but Los Angeles, California is my home. This is my community.

I’ve never been someone who seeks the spotlight. I’m much more comfortable with my hands in the dirt, doing the quiet, everyday work. Still, I’m learning to let moments like this land to receive them instead of deflecting.

What I feel most proud of isn’t just the work itself, but the relationships that have grown here the friendships, the trust, the volunteers who have become family. The animals are at the center of it all, and they mean as much to the people who show up as the people mean to them. It’s a circle care flowing both ways reminding us that none of us do this alone.

There’s a whole world inside this world we’ve built together. Not the same, but equal. Rooted in care, consistency, and love.

Thank you Los Angeles Daily News for shining a light on our sanctuary. ❤️🥹

It’s happening!

Thank you to everyone involved, all those who’ve donated, and those committed to changing systems, one vigil, one meal, one conversation at a time. We come together to celebrate the 10 years of activism with Animal Save Movement, Los Angeles Animal Save, Animal Alliance Network and our campaign the Plant Based Treaty. We’ll also be honoring several key individuals who’ve made a significant difference in Los Angeles to bring the message of hope and change forward.
