“Murder and Missing Indian Women and Girls”
Meet: Suzanne L. Cross.
Suzanne is an Native American artist, beadwork maker, and Associate Professor whose work sits at the intersection of cultural tradition and urgent social issues. Her pieces — beadwork, jewelry, textile garments — carry deep cultural meaning
Her billboard Murder and Missing Indian Women and Girls is part of Sightlines: Art in Public View right now across Los Angeles. The shawl is more than a garment — it is a statement. A demand for visibility for the thousands of Indigenous women and girls who have been murdered or gone missing, a crisis that continues to be undercounted, underreported, and overlooked.
Suzanne has spent her career making work that refuses to look away.
