Please help us congratulate our Getty Marrow Curatorial Intern, Ella Esther, as she presents her culminating project today! 🎉

Throughout her internship, Ella has helped bring more than three decades of student artwork, performances, and stories back into the spotlight, digitally archiving pieces from across Inner-City Arts’ history and helping preserve the creativity of generations of young artists.

🎥 In this video created by Ella, we’re traveling back nearly 30 years to revisit “1000 Faces 4 Art,” a student project that debuted in 1997. The video gives new life to this moment from our Visual Arts Archive, accompanied by instrumentals from our very own Rock Band, Rouge!

And there’s even more to explore on campus! Ella’s research is also featured in an interactive timeline installation now on view in our Gathering Space. Next time you visit, stop by to experience the installation, discover moments from our history, and see how creativity has taken shape at Inner-City Arts across the decades.

Congratulations, Ella, on this amazing accomplishment! 👏

Designed by students. Built with purpose. Ready to rock. 🥁

Through a partnership between Inner-City Arts and .and.advocacy, students in their Design-Build program worked alongside our youth rock band to design and build custom drum cases. The project challenged students to collaborate with our musicians and create a practical solution for transporting their instruments.

Swipe to see the finished cases (featuring Music Teaching Artist Lidia!) and catch them in action at Battle of the Bands on July 25 (RSVP with link in bio)! 🎸

What happens when the American Dream isn’t equally within reach?

This Fourth of July, we’re sharing “The Box,” a powerful scene from the latest episode of “Rated Z For Everyone,” starting our Work of Art interns Ángel and Oli.

Our artists examine the obstacles that many young people and families face in their pursuit of opportunity, from financial hardship and educational barriers to immigration challenges and systemic inequities. The piece asks us to consider who has access to the promises we often associate with the American Dream and what happens when those promises feel just out of reach.

At Inner-City Arts, we believe young people deserve opportunities to explore the issues that matter most to them, share their lived experiences, and inspire meaningful conversation through art.

This Independence Day, we invite you to watch, reflect, and listen to the voices of the next generation.

The safety and well-being of our young artists always come first.

Due to current air quality conditions resulting from the fire, all SPLASH Summer Camp activities are being held indoors while we continue to monitor guidance from public health officials.

This Juneteenth, we're reflecting on freedom, opportunity, and the many ways young people define the American Dream.

In this clip from our latest episode of Rated Z for Everyone, students share honest perspectives on identity, belonging, hope, and what it means to pursue a future on their own terms. As we commemorate Juneteenth and the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice, we're proud to amplify the voices of the next generation as they imagine what a more inclusive future can look like.
