The Children's Partnership

The Children's Partnership TCP is a nonprofit organization working to ensure all children have the opportunities to grow up hea

The Children’s Partnership holds itself to definable outcomes that lead to improvements in the lives of children and families. These impacts include definition of an agenda for children on emerging issue areas where no such agenda exists, significant changes in federal and state policy to improve health and educational opportunities, and direct health and educational benefits for children and families in California communities.

Sohna Bruce-Oliver, TCP Associate Director of Community Engagement, attended the California Budget & Policy Center Policy Insights conference last week.

Here’s her take-away:

"Everyone is recognizing we need to pivot. We know advocacy is so important. Storytelling is so important. We can't get distracted. It's imperative to figure out how to align the budget with our values, especially with Medi-Cal and other priorities. It’s important now to be working together."

We are honored to have strong partners in advocacy in our fight for children’s health equity in California including Bringing Up California, California Child Care Resource & Referral Networkand Catalyst California

California is in a youth mental health crisis – that’s why we need to remove unnecessary barriers that prevent qualified people from providing much-needed care.

Peer mentors offer relevant, lived experience that make a positive impact on foster youth. But they’re not getting the peer support they need – because 3 out of 5 peer-mentor job applicants don’t make it due to background check delays.

the PEER Act () would change that.

We need more mentors, more support, and more chances for foster youth to connect with someone who understands them.

Attending the 2026 Conference? 🌼 Join Early Edge California's Senior Policy Analyst, Mirel Herrera, and The Children's Partnership's Advocacy Director,
Children in Immigrant Families, Liza M. Davis, for their session, "ALL IN for Safe ECE Spaces" this Sunday, April 26, at the Pasadena Convention Center!

National immigration policies increasingly affect California’s immigrant families, creating barriers to Early Care and Education (ECE) access and threatening children’s safety and well-being. ECE programs must remain safe, inclusive spaces where all children can thrive, regardless of immigration status.

This session will examine how policy changes influence families’ ability to access programs and the emotional and practical challenges children may face. By the end of the session, participants will understand the impact of immigration policies, have an understanding of Safe Spaces policies, and leave with actionable resources to support immigrant families’ safety, belonging, and developmental growth.
