On the way home from my last gig, a 3 hour commute, I spent the last hour with rock and roll turned up to 11, fighting sleep by bellowing adlib lyrics which featured "I will get home, I will stay awake, I will make it home..."

This drive followed two back to back gigs.

• First gig two 14 hour days, six hours sleep then five;

• Second gig started with a travel day - 5 hours drive down to San Diego, unloading for an hour, then about 5 hours sleep; then two sixteen hour shoot days with 5 hours sleep each night, then another 5 hour sleep night before driving back to LA

Did I report these hours? No.

To me the safety app mostly is to "fix this emergency problem now" or that there is something seriously life threatening with a job I am on, reporting problems on set. I love it for that. But there needs to be a simple way to turn in long hours. When we report jobs there should be a way to add the hours worked beyond the scheduled times without seeming a whiner or complainer.

Simplify long hours reporting

Hold National Meetings quarterly In addition to regular regional networking meetings

All data management on union shows done by union personnel – a multi-local coordinated effort to stop non-union near set dailies provided by the post house as a “free” perk for renting their edit systems

Create an online contract resource for the website searchable by show name – listing the contract and a link to the applicable rate card
