Project BENZ

Project BENZ ProjectBenz is an independent archive and owner registry for modified Mercedes. Concours restorations, bagged dailies and quiet survivors all welcome.

Project Benz is the independent registry where modified Mercedes are documented properly and kept for good, built for the owners who treat a build as a record, not a phase. We started with the W201 190 and grew to cover the whole range, from R129 to G-Wagens. Add your car to the registry, document the build over time, find owners near you on the map, and dig through reference guides on chassis, engines, paint codes and parts.

1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC, C126.

This C126 was fitted with a genuine Koenig Specials Gen 1 widebody kit in period, verified by its 1985 German TüV certification. It retains the 5.0-liter M117 V8 and four-speed automatic transmission. The original Astral Silver paint was replaced with a custom Dark Purple Metallic over a factory Blue Velour 972 interior. The chassis sits on a Koenig sport suspension designed for the widebody track width. The 15-inch 3-piece BBS wheels feature gold faces with polished lips, running 285/40 Yokohama front and 345/35 Pirelli P Zero rear tires. Interior and exterior modifications include a sunroof delete, Euro-spec lighting, an AMG steering wheel, and an Eberspacher static cabin heater.
